The assembled teams quickly get their new armor and weapons, a laser resistant metallic armor and a KH-3 laser rifle with targeting scanners. Meanwhile in the war room, "The latest intel. report points to the possibility that Snively has built a new type of laser cannon. It is rumored to have the destructive power of ten laser cannons. This is the troop placements that he has been using recently. It leaves for very little weak spots to exploit. We will have to come in from the east and set up the hover tanks here at positions alpha and gamma," briefs Sally as she highlights two spots that are two and a half miles north and south of the command center. "Teams blue one and blue two will blast two holes in the eastern wall. Teams gray one and gray two will provide cover fire for the blue teams while they are planting the charges. Teams red one, red two, orange one, and orange two are to keep themselves in reserve in case we need reinforcements." Sally looks around and adds, "We leave in twenty minutes. Team leaders prep your men and vehicles. Dismissed." Sally walks up to Sonic who had just entered the war room, and they start to look over the battle plans to double check troop placements. A few minutes later, they hear a sonic boom then see a young ground squirrel/hedgehog hybrid with a blue streak in her red hair walks into the war room. "Mom, Dad, can I....." "No!" reply both Sonic and Sally. "Why, Tails and Aunt Jessica were my age when they went on missions," protests the child. "Because, you're the new princess and if anything happens to us, you'll have to lead the freedom fighters," says Sally. "Also, Alicia, it is too dangerous. Besides Michelle and Danielle are also staying behind," says Sonic, "We don't want to worry about any children getting injured or killed on this mission." "Well, I had to try," Alicia dejectedly says as she walks out of the war room. After she was gone, "I hated to do that to her, but it is for her own safety," says Sonic. "Me too, but what kind of parents would we be if we allowed her to go on this mission," adds Sally. "Irresponsible ones. Besides we'll make it up to her after we get back from this battle," finishes Sonic. Meanwhile a light brown streak was zooming around Knothole when splash! "Hey! Will you two knock that off," calls out Alicia. "All right, but you looked like you could use a laugh, Princess," says a blonde hedgehog-girl. "Yeah, you sure do," says a hedgehog-girl with red quills and twin yellow streaks, "What got you so blue?" "Well, Michelle, my folks won't let me and/or you two go on the latest mission. They were younger than us when they became freedom fighters," says the young princess. "Tell us about it, our dad was the same age as them when he had started to fight for freedom," says Danielle, "and our mom won't let us go either." "Well, what about your dad?" Alicia's eyes go wide as she quickly covers her mouth because of what she had said. "I'm sorry about that; I forgot that he died before you two were born." "Hey, it's okay. Even we forget that he's dead and ask our mom, 'where is dad,' some times," says Michelle. "And mom always starts to cry when we ask or when she tells us a story about him," adds Danielle. "When I try to get mom or Sonic to tell us he died, they always change the subject or say 'I'll tell you when you're older'," says Michelle. "I got an idea that will take our minds off of this, how about go have some fun," suggests Alicia. "Yeah," responds the two hedgehogs. "You two know that you're my best friends," says the princess. "Yeah, we know and you're our best friend as well," says Michelle, "You two always seem to know how to cheer me up." "Hey, what kind of best friends would we be if we didn't try to cheer you up," comments Danielle. Elsewhere, "Princess Sally, we are ready to move out," reports one of the team leaders. Later at Robotropolis, "Master, there is a large force heading towards us," says a bot. "What is in this force?" "Hover tanks and foot soldiers." "Dispose of them." "Yes, master." The bot sends platoons of swatbots to take care of the intruders. "Every one open fire!" yells Sonic as he fires his weapon. The battle that was fierce, many were wounded or killed. "Sonic! Look out," yells Tails as he pushes Sonic out of the way of an incoming laser beam. "Tails, are you okay?" asks Sonic. "Yeah, just a little singed," says the fox. "No, your not." "Why?" "Because that blast took off one of your tails," says Sonic as he points to something on the ground. Tails looks at it and realizes that its is one of his tails. "Medic," calls out Sonic. A medic comes running over as fast as they can; they examine Tails and say, "Sorry, Sonic, but it can't be reattached, to much trauma to the area. It was a clean shot, severed it at the base of it." "I'm sorry, big guy," says Sonic sadly. "It's okay, Sonic," says Tails as he looks at his lost tail. The medic quickly leaves to care for the other wounded freedom fighters. The battle had ended by the time that the smoke had cleared, the freedom fighters destroyed the bots, but they took heavy casualties also. Half of their force was critically wounded of killed. The tanks Started to fire upon the command center once it entered their firing range. "Fire the new laser cannons!" orders Snively, "and send out more troops." "Yes, sir." Two bright red beams fly at the tanks, destroying one and heavily damaging another. "Sally, did you see that!?!?!" "Yes, I did." They also see more bots coming at them with their weapons drawn. "Open fire!" orders Sally. The remaining freedom fighters fire their weapons into the approaching bots. The battle lasts as long as the first, but this time the only injuries were minor ones. The teams finally got to the command center after many fierce battles with the swatbots. The remaining bots are the ones assigned to guard duty. "Sally, what's the situation?" "Twenty bots give or take five," says Sally as she quickly counts the bots. One of the guards had spotted Sally's head poking up and fires a laser at her. She didn't see the beam until it was almost too late. She quickly ducks back down. "That was close," she mutters. Then a medic hands her a quaze pad and instructs her to hold it in place. After a few minutes of holding it in place she pulls it away and sees her blood on it. "How bad is it?" she nervously asks. "You lost an ear and some hair, the hair will eventually grow back, all though the ear won't," says a nearby medic. Sally breathes a sigh of relief for she had feared that it was worse than that. She can live with one ear missing. Meanwhile in the command center, "Status report," bellows Snively. "Enemy tanks have been neutralized. Enemy ground forces have been reduce to half of their strength. Enemy tanks are retreating," reports a swatbot, "Our forces are being decimated at an alarming rate." "Call for reinforcements, you imbecile," yells Snively as the build violently shakes from the force of a nearby explosion. "Master, the freedom fighters have blasted holes into the outer walls." "I'll go in first," says Sonic as he zooms off. "Be careful, we don't know what Snively is up to," yells Sally. Sonic quickly enters the building after quickly nodding in agreement to his wife. "I can lose the gun now. I don't need it any more," thought Sonic as he activates the weapon's self destruct sequence. He then quickly tosses it into a nearby guards' barracks full of recharging swatbots. Sonic smiles as a fire ball flies out of the room charring the opposite wall. Meanwhile, "Okay everyone inside the building," orders Sally after the rest of teams arrived at the command center. The freedom fighters quickly storm the building, searching for the main control room, and the swatbot barracks. The doors to the control room burst open and there stands Sonic the Hedgehog ready to kick Snively's butt from here to the other side of the planet. "You're going down fast and hard, you little twit," growls Sonic. "You wish, rodent," sneers Snively, "Swatbots, destroy that hedgehog now!!!" Twenty swatbots march towards the blue hedgehog ready to fill him full of holes. Sonic dodges the blasts of the bots and trashes five of them by using his spin attack. Several blasts narrowly miss him or hits his armor thus weakening it in some spots. "Snively, when I'm done with these bots you're next," hisses Sonic. He quickly destroys all of the bots except for one specially made bot. Snively sees a chance to take care of the hedgehog once and for all. He waited until Sonic got real close to the bot, and then he slams his fist into a button on his chair. Causing the bot to explode in Sonic's face sending shrapnel flying every where. Sonic's armor protected his body, legs, and arms. He had used his arms to shield his face as best as he can. "AHHH!!!" yells out Sonic as he holds his hand over his eye. Blood comes oozing from between his fingers. Snively smiles evily as he watched Sonic holding his right hand over his right eye; Snively knew perfectly well that Sonic had lost his eye as Snively runs into a side room. Sonic notices this with his good eye and races after the fleeing villain. Sonic realizes what the chamber is. It's a roboticizer room; Sonic smiles viciously and quickly shoves the little man into the roboticizer chamber. The glass tube slides shut and then Sonic says, "They say that turn about is fair play. Lets see if its true, Needle-nose." Snively's face turns white with fear as he watched Sonic activate the unit. The boticizer baths Snively in its purple glow transforming him into a mindless machine. Just as the machine finishes its task, Sally rushes in with ten freedom fighters behind her. "Sonic, where is.... Medic!!!" yells Sally as she notices that Sonic is still holding his hand over his eye and the blood that is covering his armor's glove. The medic runs into the room and is immediately sent to tend to Sonic's injury. The medic winces at the sight of Sonic's injury, quickly pulls out the shrapnel, and bandaged it before it could bleed again. The glass tube rises and there stands the roboticized Snively waiting for his orders. "Talk about your poetic justice," says Justin as he spots Snively boticized. "At least he is out of our hair," says Tails. "He never could say the same about us, he doesn't have any," jokes Sonic. "Sonic, are you going to be okay?" asks a concerned Sally. "Yeah, but I lost my right eye," says Sonic. "Because of the lost of depth perception and the reduced line of sight, it's recommended that he doesn't use his super speed at all," says the medic. "Okay people lets go back to Knothole," says Sonic as he and Sally walk out of the room together. Later at Knothole, "Are my folks back yet?" asks Alicia. "Yes, Princess. They're in the med. hut," says Hershey "Thanks. I'll go see them," says the princess. Shortly after at the med. hut, "Mom, Dad, are you here?" "Yes, dear, we're over here," calls out Sally. Alicia runs over to her mother and gives Sally a quick hug. "Where's Dad?" "Over here," answers Sonic who now has on an eye patch. "What happened to you, Dad?" "Snively booby trapped a bot and it literally blew up in my face," responds Sonic. "Well it would of been worse if he hadn't been wearing his armor," says Tails as he walks in. Sonic raises his hand, covers his daughter's mouth, and says, "Tails is right, but I did wear my armor. Plus we have your mother's coronation to plan out along with rebuilding the city." "But, that doesn't mean that we will be too busy to spend time with you," says Sally. Date: May 19, 3254. Ten years later. Sonic is sitting in front of a computer inputting some data that he has gathered into an analysis program. He looks up at the screen and hits the enter key. He sits back and observes the computer play out its given scenario. "Sonic, what are you running on that computer," asks a familiar voice. Sonic turns around and sees, "Danielle, I was just running a simulation," replies Sonic. Danielle then notices that the simulation involves changing the past. "You're well aware that I did Snivley a favor by killing your father, right?" "Sonic, what you're thinking of doing is impossible; just like my dad, I can't reverse the flow of time," points out Danielle "No, it's not. We'll use the time stones that are hidden on the floating island," says Sonic. "One tiny snag with your plan, Sonic. You promised Sally that you wouldn't use them again," adds Danielle "Look at this possible time line. The war with Snively lasts only five years instead of ten years. Also the casualties will be dramatically reduced." "Meaning that Tails will have both of his tails, Sally will have both of her ears intact, and you will have two good eyes," adds Danielle. "That too, but those who lost their lives will be given a second chance to life full productive lives, your father included," says Sonic, "I can't think of any better reason to do this." "Okay, I'll help," says a defeated Danielle. "Good, all you need to do is teleport us to the floating island and then...." Sonic quickly tells her his plan to save Dan. Meanwhile, "Antoine, where is Sonic?" asks Sally. "He eez in zee computer lab, my queen," responds Antoine, "Do vou want me to go get him?" "No, I'll take care off that. It's just that he has been preoccupied lately. I just hope that he doesn't do any thing drastic," says Sally. Antoine bows politely and leaves to tend to his other duties. Sally stands up and walks towards the palace's computer lab. As she was walking, she passes a mirror. She takes a quick look and sees a reminder that all they have today was the result of fighting a long and costly war. Sally arrives just as the last wisps of white smoke dissipate into the air. "He wouldn't. Would he?" asks Sally as she looks at the screen and sees a possible time line on it. "Who wouldn't, mom?" asks Alicia as she raced up to the lab. "Your father. I think that he got Danielle to help him to get the time stones." "But, he promised you that he wouldn't," adds Alicia. "That maybe so, but I didn't make Danielle promise that after she and Michelle were finally told how Dan was killed," says Sally. Meanwhile on the floating island, "We're here," says Sonic. "So, now what do we do?" asks Danielle. "First, we take care of those mechanical griffins," says Sonic as he points to two moving metallic griffins. "No prob," says Danielle as she pulls out her sword and quickly disables the bots. "I see that you and your father share the same skill with your swords," says Sonic, "Your dad would be proud of you. You have come a long way with your skills and powers since the end of the war." "Thanks." The duo cautiously enters the building in front of them. "Sally, we are approaching the floating island," calls out Tails over the whine of his biplane's engine. Sally nods and hopes that they get there before Sonic can carry out his plan. The plane touches down on the surface of the island. Sally quickly jumps out and runs for the ancient building. Meanwhile inside, "I have hands that do not hold, a face with no eyes, nor a mouth to speak, but yet I can tell you something. What am I?" asks the Guardian of the time stones. "Hmm, hands that can't hold, a face with no eyes and mouth, can tell me something. What can it be? ," asks Sonic. Danielle snappes her fingers and says, "I got it! It's a clock!" He then says, "You may use the time stones." Sonic and Danielle walk over to the stones, pick them up, and pushes them together. "In order for this to work we have to be thinking on the same wave length. In another words have synchronized our thinking," says Sonic, "The date that we will travel to is May 18, 3234, by the power ring pool." Danielle nods, and they grasp the time stones and start to repeatedly chant, "May 18, 3234 by the power ring pool." In a bright flash they are gone. Sally comes running into the chamber just as the flash was fading away. "No!!! Sonic, you're in big trouble, if I even remember it," calls out Sally. "Don't worry, while you are in here you are safe from the changes made in the time line," says the guardian. The date is now may 18, 3234, Sonic and Danielle find themselves standing by the power ring pool. "We made it," says Sonic. Danielle and Sonic quickly get ready to save Dan. "Sonic, can't you please slow down. I have frozen time," calls out Danielle as she holds onto Sonic. "Can't we have to find that crossbow before my past self does. Or this is all for nothing," says Sonic as he looks around for the weapon. Then they spot it and evil-Dan running away. Danielle quickly restarts time and Sonic stops, picks up the crossbow, and pulls it apart. Danielle watches Sonic with interest. "Why is he just pulling it apart? We have it. Why not just leave?" thinks Danielle. Sonic then finds what he is looking for, a pin that ties the trigger to the release mechanism. He quickly pulls the pin and reassembles the weapon. He then places it in the spot that Evil-Dan had left it. Danielle freezes time again, and the duo head to the meadow to make sure that nobody dies this time around. Danielle again restores the flow of time. The two quickly hide behind some bushes so that they can observe the events without being seen. They had waited for only a few minutes when they see Dan walking to Knothole. Danielle's eyes tear up and a single tear rolls down her cheek. "Danielle, what is it?" whispers Sonic. "I never realized how much my dad and I look alike. No wonder my mom always says that I'm a spitting image of him," she whispers back. Then Sonic's past self runs on to the meadow, aims and pulls the trigger on the crossbow. "What the?!?!" calls out Sonic's past self as he repeatedly pulls the trigger and nothing happens. "Sonic, what got into you? Why are you trying to kill me?" asks a confused Dan as Diane runs up to her husband. "Because you tried to kill me, first," answers Sonic's past self angrily. "Sonic, this is the one that tried to kill you," says Sally as she and Rotor lead Evil-Dan into view. "Uh? Two of you?" calls out a surprised Diane. Danielle looks at Sonic and mouths, 'twins?' Sonic shakes his head and mouths back, 'watch.' "Yes and no," says Rotor as he tears off a fake birth mark. "Who are you," ask Dan and Sonic angrily. "I'm Evil-Dan, your darker half," says the duplicate. "We have to leave that message," whispers Sonic. Sonic and Danielle fade into invisibility. They stand up and quickly head back to Knothole. Meanwhile, "You wanted me to kill my best friend because he was a good guy. Rotor, take this scum sucking hedgehog to a cell," says Sonic. Dan turns to his wife and asks, "Diane, you wanted me for something?" "Yes, I did; to tell you something," she then whispers into Dan's ear. Dan's eyes widen in surprise, and he says, "You're kidding, right?" Diane shakes her head; Dan looks a little light headed. They quickly sit Dan down and place his head between his knees. "Diane, what did you tell him?" asks Sonic. "That he will be a father," says Diane. "No wonder he acted surprised," says Sonic. "Sonic, I too have to tell you something," says Sally as she whispers something into Sonic's ear. Sonic looks shocked and says, "No way. Sal, you got to be joking." "No, I'm not. Diane and I have both been tested. The tests came back positive twice. You and Dan are going to be fathers," says Sally. Sonic looks like he is about to copy Dan, but he recovers quickly. Meanwhile in Knothole, "Nicole, on your next activation by Sally or Sonic play the following message. Begin recording," says Sonic's future self. "Ready." "Sally, if you are hearing this, please go get Sonic. This message will continue only when he is present," says Sonic as he manually enters the commands that instructs Nicole when to play back the next part of his message, "Twenty years ago, well twenty years ago for me, I had made a terrible and costly mistake by killing my best friend. The war with Snively lasted ten years when it should of lasted only five years. The reason why the crossbow didn't fire is that I had pulled out the trigger's connecting pin. I hope that this counts me as being even in Dan's book. Good luck in your war. End of message." Sonic then stops the recording and closes up Nicole. "Sonic, we're almost out of time," says Danielle. Sonic quickly places Nicole back in the hut, and then joins Danielle as she pulls out the time stones. They put the stone together and in a flash they're gone. The date is now May 19, 3254. "Sonic, I should hit you for that stunt," says Sally. Sonic then holds his head as if in terrible, sharp pain. "Sonic! What's wrong?" asks Sally as her anger quickly replaces itself with worry. Sonic then looks up, and his eye patch is now gone. Sally expects to see his destroyed eye, but, "Sonic, your eye! It's okay?!?! But I thought that the guardian said that we are safe from the changes in the time line while we're in here." "I did. You're safe from the psychological changes not the physical changes. For example, you had a missing ear, but now you have two ears," says the guardian as Sally feels where her ear use to be and discovers that it is now there. "Sonic, did we succeed?" asks Danielle. "I'll say that you did," says Dan as he walks in. "Dad!" yells out Danielle as she runs up to Dan and hugs him. "Hey, what's that for? You're acting like you haven't seen me before," jokes Dan. "You can say that," says Sonic as he tells Dan about the past that he knew. Dan says, "So that explains, why you went back to the past before." "Yeah, I'm just sorry that it took so long," says Sonic as the group of four exited the building. "Where is Tails?" asks Sally. "He stayed in Mobotropolis," says Dan, "I flew the you here in the plane. Danielle had teleported Sonic here so that they can get to the time stones sooner." "Oh. How come you and I didn't teleport here?" asks Sally. "Because I had lost that power to Chaos." "Oh, Sonic," starts Danielle. "Yeah, what is it?" "I think that I can't handle teleporting you and me at once for the time being," says Danielle. "Sonic, you can fly the plane back home," says Dan. "How will you get back?" "When you and Sally climb into the plane and take off, I'll show you." Danielle disappears in a puff of white smoke as Sally and Sonic climb into the plane. Dan walks to the edge of the island; Sonic starts up the plane and takes off. Dan leaps, straitens out, and starts to glide along side of the air craft. "You now glide?!?!" calls out Sonic over the roar of the engine. "Yeah, I do. I'll explain it all when we get back to the palace," replies Dan. Back to the past and Knothole, "So what do we do with that low life," asks Dan as he, Sonic, Sally, and Diane enter Sonic's and Sally's hut. "Nicole, access all laws made before the coupe," requests Sally as she opens the unit. "Playing recorded message," says Nicole. "Sonic, did you record a message?" Sonic's answer is cut off as a holographic image of a blue hedgehog who looks like an older version of Sonic wearing an eye patch over his right eye. "Sally, if you are hearing this, please go get Sonic. This message will continue only when he is present." Nicole scans the area quickly and continues the play back, "Twenty years ago, well twenty years ago for me, I had made a terrible and costly mistake by killing my best friend. "You mean that hedgehog was Sonic's future self," says Sally. "Yup. This means that Evil-Dan had succeeded in getting Sonic to kill me, but Sonic went back into time to save my life. So, Sonic, I guess that you owe yourself to go back into time twenty years from now to same my life again." "Yeah, but how? Use the time stones?" "Yes, you do. That's how you did it this time just like when Sonic and I went back into time to warn my father about the coupe that Robotnik staged," says Sally. "Processing request now," say Nicole who was forgotten up to that point. "Nicole, I forgot that you were still active," says Sally. "Here are the results of the search," says Nicole a little annoyed. "Ah, I just found how we are to handle this situation," says Sally. "So how are we going to handle this, Sal?" "We'll hold a trial and I'll draw up the charges," replies Sally.
