Sonic the Hedgehog : Prank War Author Hyper 802 Time line: The main part of this story takes place seven years before the events chronicled in the Sat AM ABC, Sonic the Hedgehog series The Project Doomsday episode. Cast of characters: In alphabetical order Princess Sally Acorn Antoine D' Coolette Sonic Hedgehog Julayla Dan Michaels Miles "Tails" Prower Bunnie Rabbot Robotnik Rosie Rotor Snively "Dan, can you please tell me about the time when Sonic tossed you into the power ring pool while you where about my age," asks Tails as he walked into Dan's hut. "Sure, it was seven years ago, we were about eleven years old at the time," says Dan. "Hey, Dan, what are you doing," asks Sonic as he coasted into the hut. "I'm trying to tell Tails about the time, you threw me into the power ring pool," says Dan. "Are you also going to tell him about the prank war?" "Prank war????" asks Tails. "Yes, I was, Sonic. Better yet, there is an easier way to tell this story. Cue the ripple effect," calls out Dan. "Cool!!! I love flash backs," says Sonic and Tails. It's late at night when a shadowy figure quietly sneaks along a moon lit meadow; he walks from shadow to shadow trying not to be seen by any one . Then another figure steps out to make a play for the flag on the other side, but stops to take a quick glimpse back and spots the mystery person. "Hey! Who's there?" asks the person with a clearly feminine voice, "Who's guarding our flag?!!" "Uhh! Oh no!!" exclaims the first figure. He starts to run, but two other figures jump out to block him. Then he goes into a tight ball and jumps over there heads. He hits the ground running. "It's either Dan or Sonic!" one of them yells. "Hey, Sal. Who are you chasing?" asks a new figure just running into the meadow. The black clad figure pulls off his hood to reveal the face of a blonde hedgehog. "Dan?!" asks the bewildered new figure. He's Sonic the Hedgehog. "Hey, Sonic. Yeah it's me." replies the blonde hedgehog. "Hey, Sally. Good game." "Yeah, it was. Although we didn't expect you to be clad in black," replies Sally, "Maybe we will get you next time." "Well to be honest, Sally. I won't get caught next time we play," commented Dan. "Oh really, Dan Michaels?" Sally questioned, "Want to know what I have to say about that?" "I have a funny feeling that I don't," Dan nervously replied. "I say," Sally says very slyly, "Get him!" Sally, Bunnie, and Rotor all lunge at Dan. He replies, "Jack be nimble. Jack be quick. Jack dodges and escapes without a nick!" As he jumps, runs, and ducks through their attacks. Dan quickly turns and runs for the safety of the Great Forest. Sally, Bunnie, and Rotor are in hot pursuit. "Hey, were did he go?" asks Rotor. "Ah, don't know Sugar," replies Bunnie. "Whew! Lost them," thinks a weary Dan. "Hey, Bunny, Rotor! I have a plan to get back at Dan for his little trick," says Sally with a mischievous look on her face. "Well, Sally-girl. Tell us!" exclaimed a curious Bunnie. "Okay," Sally says. She then starts to whisper her plan in their ears. Meanwhile Dan is walking back to his hut. When he gets there, he notices that someone is waiting for him. "This is a good idea to wait for Dan to return to his hut to nail him with water balloons," thought Sally. She was so deep in thought that she failed to notice the fact that Dan was climbing a nearby tree. The next morning, the sun hit a sleeping Sally in the face forcing her to wake up, to her surprise; she, Bunnie, and Rotor were still waiting for Dan to show up. "Hey, Sally! Did Dan return to his hut last night?" asks Rotor "I'll go check," Sally replied sleepily. She looks into a window and notices Dan's bed empty and hadn't been slept in. "Nope, he never returned last night." Unknown to the trio, Dan is watching them from the tree that he had slept in. "We'll place our water balloons in this old hollow tree. So we don't have to carry them with us every where we go and end up breaking them," explained Sally as she carefully places her water balloon in the hollow part of the old tree. Bunnie and Rotor quickly do the same as Sally. While the trio are walking away, Dan climbs out of his tree and grabs the three water balloons. Then a mischievous grin appears on his face. He quickly wrote a brief note and then ties a string to both the note and one of the balloons. He sets out to setup his prank. Later that day, Sally was heading to her hut with Bunnie. All of a sudden, Sally hears and then feels three water balloons drop on top of her. She looks down and sees the note and the trip line. She picks up the note and it read, `Nice try. Better luck next time.' "Dan!!!" yells out Sally. "Uh, Sally-girl? How do you know that this is Dan's handy work?" asks Bunnie "Because these were our water balloons that we were going to nail him with," replies Sally. "Oh" "Bunnie, I'm going to get that hedgehog for this," Sally admitted rather coldly. "So, Dan, do you have the game ball?" asks Sonic. "OOPS, I left it in my hut," remembered Dan. As they walk down the street that leads to Dan's hut, they fail to notice a trip line that was placed across the path and just pulled tuat. Dan trips it and down tumbles enough molasses to completely cover him from head to toe. "Sally! This has to be her handy work," Dan said bluntly, "I wonder what else can go wrong today?" "Dan is that tar?" asks a concerned Sonic. Dan looks at the substance that's covering him and says, "Nope," he tastes some, "It's molasses." "Well, you better wash that off before Julayla sees you like that," remarked a smug Sonic as they continue down the street towards Dan's hut. A few minutes later, they arrive at Dan's hut. "Well at least she didn't try to dump feathers on me," muttered Dan. As he was about to climb the steps to his hut another trip line is pulled. "Uh? Now what?" asks Dan. Then a bucket of feathers dumps out on Dan. "Me and my big mouth!" mumbles Dan. "Uh, Sally again?" asks Sonic while looking at the "tarred" and feathered Dan. "Sonic. This means war, a prank war on Princess Sally Acorn!" Dan declares icily. After a quick shower, Dan grabs a few prank supplies; a rubber spider, chili pepper flavored chewing gum, and a whoopee cushion. "Hey, Sally. Would you care for some gum?" asks Dan as he hands pieces to Sonic, Bunnie, Rotor, and Antoine. "What flavor?" "Cinnamon," says Sonic in between chews. "Okay," says Sally. Dan hands her a piece of gum. Sally unwraps it, and places it in her mouth. She starts to chew the gum when her eyes opened wide and filled with tears. "Water," asks Sally while waving her hand in front of her mouth. Sonic quickly races off and is shortly returning with a covered glass of water. He hands Sally the glass; she gladly accepts it, tears off the cover, and greedily drinks the water. Dan goes to place the pack of gum into his pocket, but Sally had already grabbed it and sees its true flavor. "You tricked me!!!" "Uh, guys, I gotta go now. I left the water running in my hut," says Dan as he slowly backs away and then turns in a dead run. Sally quickly heads to her hut. Shortly after, "Princess, what's the matter?" asks Rosie. "Dan, just tricked me with some chili pepper flavored chewing gum," says Sally. "Well, what are you going to do about it?" "I don't know," says Sally sadly. "Well, how about the classic snake in the can prank. You never can go wrong with a classic," says Rosie as she and Sally walk to Rosie's hut to prepare the prank. A few minutes later, "Dan, I have to admit that prank of yours was real smooth. I didn't suspect a thing," says Sally while Dan is fidgeting where he stood. "I've decided to give you this can of peanut brittle as a peace offering," says Sally. "Hmm, she seems to mean it. If it is true I'll remove the fake spider," thought Dan as he opened the can, four spring loaded snakes fly out of the can. "Sally!!!" yells Dan as he hears Sally laughing in the distance. "Bunnie, it was so funny! Dan opened the can and out flew the snakes. You should of seen his face." "It must of been quite the sight. Aren't ya worried about Dan's retaliation prank? We all know how much he loves to pull a prank on someone especially retaliation pranks" says Bunnie. "Na, what can he do? He can't get me so soon," says Sally as she opens the door to her hut while still facing Bunnie. She turns around and, "Ahhh!" "Sally-girl, what is it?" Sally moves a side and shows it to Bunnie. "Oh, that little old thing," says Bunnie as she looks at the object closely, and then she starts to giggle. "What's so funny?" asks an indignant Sally. "Dan got you with one of the oldest tricks in the book. Even ah used it against my sibs, Sally-girl. It's just a rubber spider! Hahaha," laughs Bunnie. Sally angrily grabs the spider and yanks hard on its string, snapping the string. "Bunnie, I have a favor to ask of you," says Sally after Bunnie closed the door. "Hey , Dan!" calls Bunnie. "Hi, Bunnie," says Dan, "So where's Sally?" "At her hut planning her next prank for ya. She was pretty miffed about ya spider prank," says Bunnie as Sally sneaked behind Dan. "Oh? I bet it must of been pretty funny to see her face when it dropped down in front of her." "It was, sugar, it was," said Bunnie as Sally quickly unties Dan's laces and ties them together. "You should of seen her face," laughs Bunnie as she copied Sally's earlier expression. Dan starts laughing hard; after he was done laughing he says, "That was a classic. Bunnie, I had set that prank up even before I had tricked her with the gum," says Dan as Sally quietly leaves, "I had hoped that she would trip the spider prank first, then come looking for me, and I would nail her with the gum for the coup de grace." "Ya had everything planed out did ya?" "Yup, but it worked out pretty well in the end even if it was in reverse," says Dan as he takes a step, then CRASH!!! "Great, just my luck. Sally had just set me up to take the fall. Next time I need new sneaks, I'm going with Velcro," says Dan as he held his head and drummed his fingers on the ground. "Yeah, you should of seen it. He fell flat on his face!" laughed Sally. "Oh, Yeah! You should of seen the look on your face, when you started chewing the chili pepper flavored chewing gum!" Dan said laughing hysterically. This bantering went on while they were in the dinner line. Dan was the second to sit after Sonic with Sally the third one to sit. Just as Sally sat, an audible "thbbbt" was heard in the dining hall. Everyone in the hall looked towards Sally, who is now beet red with embarrassment. At the end of the meal, Sally quickly gathered her dishes, placed them in the sink, and ran out of the dining hall. Where she sat is lying the now deflated whoopee cushion. It appears to be on its own violation as it flies into Dan's hand. Sally is leaning against a tree near the dining hall trying to get over her embarrassment when she over hears, "Man, Sonic! Did you see, Sally turn beet red?" laughed Dan. "Oh yeah, Dan. I did. You placed that whoopee cushion at the right moment!" laughed Sonic. "It was nothing but a stupid prank!!!" thought Sally angrily, "I will get that conniving hedgehog for this!" She then storms off towards her hut to plan her next prank. The next morning, the citizens of Knothole awaken to the sounds of water balloons bursting. Dan runs by zigzagging; he is dodging water balloons that are being thrown by Sally. Sally looks into her pack and counts five water/red dye mixture filled balloons. She quickly runs out of balloons to throw at Dan, who is still running. Sally starts to giggle which then turns into full blown laughter. "Hey, Dan! Ummm. What did you do to your quills?" asked Sonic. "What do you mean, Sonic?" Sonic takes off, gets a mirror, and returns to show Dan his reflection. "Oh! Sally must of put red dye in those water balloons, she was throwing at me. She ended up hitting me with ten out of her thirty water balloons. You know, Sonic. I should thank her," commented Dan with a cold, sadistic grin on his face. "Oh? How come?" "She gave me red highlights which looks cool," remarks Dan, "and I have a prank of my own." Later that day, "Hey, Sally! I should thank you," claimed Dan. "Oh and why is that?" asked a confused Sally. "Because your trick gave my quills red highlights," Dan answered while shaking her hands. "But I was trying to change your color to red!" exclaims Sally. "Well better luck next time," Dan advised with his hand on her left shoulder. As Dan starts to walk away from her, she notices that her hands and left shoulder are starting to itch like crazy! She also notices Dan turning a corner, and he is dusting off his hands, a white powder is seen falling from them. Then it dawns on her, he just pranked her this time with itching powder. She immediately runs after him, so that she personally can slug him. Dan hears the sound of running feet behind him; he looks back and notices who it is that's running behind him or more accurately after him. He starts to run towards the river. Dan reaches the river first, dives into it saying, "You can't catch me, Sally." "Oh, yeah!" yells Sally who dives in after him. She knows perfectly well that she can only stay under for three and a half minutes, but Dan can stay under for five minutes. He immediately swims for an under water cave with Sally trying to catch up to him. Sally stops swimming after Dan and heads for the surface. "I'll go get Rotor to help me get Dan. HMM, the itch is gone. It must of washed off during my swim after Dan," Sally thinks. Meanwhile in the cave, Dan surfaces inside an air pocket. He climbs up onto an ledge and quickly heads for a tunnel that he had dug a while back and hidden. Dan quickly climbs into his tunnel and then hides it again. He starts down the long tunnel just as Sally with Rotor in tow arrive at the river. "Are you sure that he dove in and swam for an under water cave?" asks Rotor. "Yes, I'm sure of it," answered Sally. Rotor dives in and finds the under water cave. He surfaces in the cave and looks around, but there is no Dan in sight. Rotor leaves the cave to tell Sally what he found. When he surfaces, he sees Sally talking to Bunnie, telling her what had happened earlier today. "Well, Sally," said Rotor, "He was down there because there are still wet foot prints in the cave, but left awhile ago." "We should of seen him walk by us," said Sally. "Well, he is not there now." "Better get back to Knothole," stated Sally. While they were leaving the river, Dan was in his hut drying off with a towel, and then he grabbed a pair of dry socks, his extra pair of shoes, and extra pair of gloves. He looked at the time, and then he heads out the door with a game ball, his glove, and a bat. On his way to the game field, he spots Sally, Bunnie, and Rotor coming from the river. "Hey! You, three hurry it up it's game time," yells Dan. "OOPS, We forgot. By the way, Dan, how did you get past us?" asked Sally. "I'll tell you later," replied Dan. Sally, Bunnie, and Rotor run towards their huts to get their equipment. Dan walks on to the temporary baseball field when he sees; Julayla as the umpire, Rosie as the score keeper with a young Tails sitting next to her (He is about three in this story.), Sonic is wearing a team captain hat, and another adult was standing on the pitcher's mound. "Dan, where are the others," asks an very impatient Sonic. "We're over here!" calls out Sally as she and the others were running up to the field. She was also wearing a captain's hat. "Well! Lets chose teams," said Rotor. "Sally chooses first," informed Julayla after a coin toss. "I chose Bunnie," Sally stated. "I chose Dan," called Sonic. "I chose Antoine," Sally said. "Well, Rotor welcome aboard," said Sonic cheerfully. The game started with Sonic's team out in the field first. The inning was fast and furious; the score started out as two to zero, Sally's team in the lead. Sonic always went for a bunt knowing full well that he can stretch it into a home run without a problem. The game lasted for an hour or more, the final score was ten to nine; Sonic's team winning the game. That night as Sally was putting her boots in her closet; she was covered with silly string. "Dan!!!" she muttered. That morning, Dan awoke and quickly got ready for breakfast. He was heading out the door when he noticed that someone was on the front porch roof. He quickly walks to the back of his hut and walks past three huts before coming out onto the street. "Blast!! He saw me," thought Sally, "but how?" Then she looked down and understood, he saw her shadow sitting on the top of the porch roof. She climbs down and heads for the dining hall. The morning was uneventful, it's now late in the afternoon when Dan is walking to his hut via the backyards of his neighbors. When he spots Sally on top of the roof of his hut waiting for him to walk by, but he quickly goes to the street and runs to his hut. He quietly walks onto the porch of his hut, and then Sally hears the door of the hut close. "Shoot! He got by me again!" thought Sally, "This time I will stand in the middle of the roof." Soon diner time was coming up and Dan cautiously walked out of his hut, then he hears a water balloon sailing right for him. He quickly dodges and spots his attacker. It is Sally, who is currently sitting in the center of the roof on his hut with a small pack full of water balloons. He starts to run towards the dining hall; Sally fires another water balloon at Dan. He sees the water balloon heading for him and dodges by running diagonally towards the right for awhile then continues in the previous direction but he curls into a ball and starts to roll. Unfortunately for him, he is rolling down a steep hill and helped by the law of gravity starts to build up speed. He tries to slow down but with no luck. When he reaches the bottom of the hill, he is going at a good clip. The next thing he knew, he hits a speed bump (Rosie and Julayla installed them as a vain attempt to slow down Sonic and then removed them after this little incident.) and goes through the dining hall door, leaving a Dan sized hole in the door. He uncurls, landing on his back, and slides into one of the table legs, hitting his head in the process. Julayla and Rosie enter to find a dazed Dan crawling out from under the table. "Dan!!! What happened?" ask both Julayla and Rosie with a concerned tone in their voices. Dan gets the cobwebs out of his head and tells them what happened earlier. He was finishing his tale when the others came into the dining hall. "Sally and Dan stay. Everyone else leave," Julayla ordered calmly. After they left, grumbling as they did so, "All right, Sally. I know that you two are in the middle of a prank war," said Rosie. Sally then tells her side of the story. "Okay, we've heard both sides of it," says Rosie, "Dan, you will repair the door. Sally, you will fix the floor. Also after dinner and the jobs, you'll go to your huts and stay there for two days. Only leaving them for meals and classes." "Is that clear?" asked Julayla. "Yes, madam," replied both Dan and Sally. Rosie goes to get the others for dinner. As they pass the door, Sonic notices the hole in it. "Dan, what happened to the door?" asked Sonic. "I bore through it on accident," Dan glumly admitted. "Oh," answered Sonic. When they finished their meal, Dan and Sally got the tools and materials together and went to work on their assigned jobs. When they had completed them, they head for their huts to spend two long days alone in their huts. Later the next day, knock, knock. "Come in," Dan said expecting it to be Rosie or Julayla coming to check on him, "Sonic! So the wardens let you visit one of the inmates." "Yes, we did but only for a few minutes," replied Julayla. "Heheheh.. I didn't know you were there, Julayla," said a nervous Dan. Sonic and Dan talk for awhile. They are talking about the next prank that will be pulled on Sally; it will need both of them to pull it off. As the days begin to end, Sally almost forgets about the prank war. She is planning her next prank to pull on Dan. "Hey, Sal!" said Dan, who now looked and sounded like Sonic, "What are you working on?" "Oh! Sonic, I was just making plans for a raid on Robotropolis," Sally said while quickly changing to another screen on Nicole. "Hey, Sal! UH?! Whose's this impostor?" asked Sonic with an annoyed voice. Sally does a double take at the site of two Sonics. "Impostor!!! You're the impostor!" yelled the first Sonic. "No you are," yelled the other. The two argued like that for awhile. It was starting to get on Sally's nerves. "Hey, Sally-girl. What is all this hoo-ha about?" asked Bunnie. Then she and the others that are with her noticed the two Sonics. "Bunnie, Antoine, Rotor, and Tails. Do you see two Sonics?" asks a bewildered Sally. The two Sonics look at them and said, "Well, we're waaaaiting!" "Yes, we do!" Tails just nodded his head in agreement. "Lets go find Dan and get his reaction to this new development," suggested Rotor. They all headed towards Dan's hut, the two Sonics were the first ones there by the virtue of their super speed. "Dan? Are you here?" asked Sally as she looked for him. She notices a container of styling gel that was left out, but that didn't catch her attention because he was always leaving it out, it was the fact that there was blue dye out and both pairs of his shoes were in his closet. "Dan!!!" she yelled. She then looked at the two Sonics who were leaning against a wall. "You pranked me and Sonic was in on it!" she added. "Hey, Sally. It's no big deal, we were testing out a plan to confuse old Buttnik," said Dan with his normal voice. "And besides, Sally. I prefer my blonde quills and style to Sonic's blue quills and style," remarked Dan, "No offense, Sonic." "None taken, Dan," answered Sonic, "But it's cool to have a twin for awhile." "Hmmm. Dan just gave me an idea for a prank," thought Sally with a mean, sadistic grin on her face. "Uhm. Why are you grinning, Sally?" asks Dan. "I was just thinking, how Robotnik will react to the idea of two Sonics running around," replied Sally. "I am believing his reaction will be zee same s mine," added Antoine, "surprised and shocked!" "Well, Ant. That's what were going for," stated Sonic and Dan who was mimicking Sonic's voice again. "Will you two cut that out!!" yelled Sally, "We will be going to Robotropolis in a few minutes." A little while later on the monitors in Robotnik's control room, a blue hedgehog was seen running and destroying swatbots left and right. "Snively! Send more swatbots to catch that hedgehog!" ordered Robotnik. "You couldn't catch me even if I was a sleep," remarked Dan mimicking Sonic's voice. "You!!! How did you get in here?!" bellowed Robotnik. "Uhmm. S-sir. The hedgehog is in sector 16 and here at the same time?!!!" said Snively nervously. "You mean that miserable rodent has a double!!!" "Got a problem with that Robuttnik?" said Dan in Sonic's voice. "No, that means one more Mecha-Sonic that will be in my arsenal," Robotnik answered with a sneer, "Swatbots get him!" Dan moves at sonic speed destroying any Swatbot that came to close to him. "That was really lame, Robuttnik. I can do better than that. Watch this, if you can," and with that he ran around Robotnik's command chair creating a tornado that spins Robotnik around and around. Meanwhile else where in the city, "Well, they're having fun," said Rotor looking over Sally's shoulder and looking at Nicole's screen. "Yeah, too much fun," commented Sally, "They are on their way back now." "Hey, Dan. How did you do with Buttnik?" asks Sonic "Great!! Buttnik was spitting mad! He yelled out 'I hate that hedgehog!' after I was done with him. And you?" "Those swatbots are trashed and depending on how Sally and the others did. Will determine if we get to trash any more swatbutts." "Now I finally understand why you can't wait for the next raid," laughed Dan. "Hey you two, great distraction!" called out Rotor, "You two really got Buttnik spiting mad!" Sirens were heard in the distance. "Okay. Lets get out of here," ordered Sally. The group quickly head out of the city and to the safety of the Great Forest. Later that night, "Nicole, display Color change simulation in holographic mode." There in front of Sally now stood a holographic image of Dan. "Now display the result of mixture 1." The color of the hologram changed from yellow to purple. "Perfect. He will not expect this to happen to him," thought Sally. Two days later, Dan was in the shower washing his quills when he reached for his bottle of shampoo. He finished his shower and was about to style his quills the way he always does when he discovered, "WHAT!! I'm purple. I hate purple." thought an annoyed Dan, "Sally will pay for this prank." Dan picks up the shampoo bottle. He froze time, so that he can get to Sally's hut to return the prank. He arrives just as she was waking up. He quickly adds two more units of purple dye into the shampoo. He then switches the bottles of shampoo and bolts out the door. Sally was getting out of the shower when she noticed that her hair was a very deep purple. "What!! My hair is purple!" thought Sally as she was looking into her mirror. Dan enters the dining hall, grabs his breakfast, and sits in a dark corner of the hall. The others file in for breakfast, Sally was wearing a light cloak with its hood up to cover up her hair. Later during classes, "Sally, will you please pull down that hood?" asked Julayla for the tenth time. Sally notices Julayla's expression and reluctantly pull off the hood. As she does she reveals her dyed hair, "Sally, what did you do to your hair? Style it? Cut it? ........ I know what, you dyed it!" exclaimed Dan from his dark corner. With that Sally whips around and glares at Dan. "Sally, why did you glare at Dan like that?" asked a stern Julayla. "Because he put hair dye in my shampoo," answered Sally. "Only in response to your latest prank, and technically, Sally, you put the dye in that bottle. I just added more dye to it," said Dan while leaning out of his corner. That's when they notice he's dyed purple. "Dan, I finally got you good!" Sally exclaimed happily. With that Sonic burst out laughing. When he looked at Dan and then at Sally, he laughed harder and practically fell out of his chair. "Sonic, I'm going to get you with a special prank," warned Dan. "Lets get on with class," Julayla said diverting the children's attention from Dan's and Sally's new quill/hair color back to their books. After class, Julayla took the tampered shampoo and locked it away. Later that night at Dan's hut, Sally ties a rope around Dan and his bed to hold him down to the it. Then with the help of Rotor, Bunnie, Antoine, she lifts and flips Dan's bed while he is still asleep. Sally silently chuckles at the sight of Dan sleeping upside down. That morning every one in Knothole hears, "What the?!! Somebody get me down!!!" When Julayla, Rosie, Sonic, Rotor, and a host of others arrived, they saw Dan in his bed which was on the ceiling upside down. A team of four got Dan and his bed down off the ceiling. "Dan, how did you get up there?" asked Rosie. "I don't know, but I will find out," said Dan very angrily. He searched long and hard when he over heard Sally bragging to Sonic about her latest prank. "Sal, Dan is not going let you get away with this," replied Sonic. "I left him clueless as to who did that to him," admitted Sally who started to laugh at the thought of Dan hanging upside down in his bed. Sonic noticed Dan leaving and thought, "Oh, Sally. If only you knew that he just found out who did it." "Ooo, that Sally! I have just the thing for her!" thought Dan. He went to a spot in his hut which held his most diabolical prank that he had ever thought of. "Sally prepare to meet your worst nightmare," Dan said to no one in particular. Dan ran to Sally's hut. He got there in record time, he noticed that Sally was in her hut and decided to wait for her to leave. "Hey Sally. It's time for your etiquette classes," called Rotor. "I'm on my way out, Rote," called Sally. She got her things and headed out the door of her hut. "Oh, Sally. The rumor that is out at the moment is that Dan has found out who pranked him last night and is getting ready for his ultimate prank," warned Rotor. "Don't worry Rote. It's just a rumor," commented Sally although she was worried about it. "What if the rumor is true?" she thought. While they were walking away, Dan made his move. He quickly set up his prank; he checked every thing that he had set up, satisfied with the results he left Sally's hut. That night after bed check, Dan got positioned outside of Sally's hut. "Saallyyy, Saaaaallllyyy," called out a ghostly voice. Sally sat up with a start, and what she saw petrified her with fear. At the foot of her bed was a ghostly figure. She noticed it mouth something, and then her bed started to float upward. When it got half way up, she jumped off her bed and ran out the door screaming. Dan started to laugh as he gathered up the items that he had placed earlier and left Sally's hut. "Are you sure that you saw a ghost," asked Julayla. "Yes," replied a scared Sally. They searched the hut for several hours. Not finding a thing, Julayla said, "Well there is no sign of what made the ghost or anything else," admitted Julayla. "I guess so," Sally glumly said. "You must of been nervous about Dan's new prank and your mind might of imaged the ghost and your bed lifting up into the air like that," consoled Julayla, "So please go back to bed and grab some sleep, Princess." With that Sally goes back to bed and back to sleep. She slept fitful, and she also tossed and turned all night long. The next morning, "Hey, Sally-girl." greeted Bunnie, "You look terrible." "I know. I couldn't get a decent nights sleep," sleepily answered Sally. The two friends walked to the dining hall, "So what did ya see or do last night to cause ya to lost sleep last night," asked Bunnie. "I saw a ghost," replied Sally. Bunnie looked at her friend with concern and worry. When they got to the dining hall, everyone was there except for Dan. "Sonic, where is Dan," asked Rosie. "I think he is still in his hut sleeping," replied Sonic. "Will you please go get him up," said Julayla. "Okay," said Sonic as he took off for Dan's hut. Rosie walks up to Sally and whispers to her, "Don't worry Sally; Julayla told me every thing that happened last night. Everything will be all right." Sally smiled and went to get her breakfast. Then a loud "Yeeow!!!" was heard, Sonic comes walking in with a soaking wet Dan right be hind him. "Sonic, what happened to Dan?" asks Sally. "I threw him into the power ring pool," replied Sonic as he quickly handed Dan a towel. "Why did you do that," asked Rosie. "Because I couldn't get him up any other way," replied Sonic. Dan and Sally sat down with their breakfast. Dan looks at Sally and asks, "Truce?" "Truce," Sally said. She notices the look of absolute mischief on Dan's face the same one that he wore when he has thought of a prank to pull on someone. "Dan, what are you planning? Because I know that look all to well," asked Sally. "I have a prank for Sonic and I would like your help to pull it off," replied Dan and started to whisper his plans for Sonic to her. Later that day, Dan and Sally start setting up the prank, they got everything covered up and the layout marked. Later that day, Dan and Sonic start talking about that ghost that Sally saw last night. Sally overhears Dan saying, "Sonic, that was my meanest and most diabolical prank ever." When she heard this she was mad; she was out for blood! Dan's blood to be honest. She left before Sonic said, "Dan, that was way past cold." "I know, but when I heard how it affected Sally afterwards. I called off the prank war," replied Dan. "Oh, that's the reason that you and Sally called that truce, and I thought that it was to plan your prank on me," said Sonic sarcastically. The next morning, "Dan, I have to warn you that Sally over heard us talking about your ghost prank and is an the warpath big time," warned Sonic. "Well, it looks like I'll have to keep a low profile," remarked Dan. For two days, Dan avoided Sally when ever he saw her coming. It was the third day of Dan's disappearing when Sally calmed down and started to take pleasure from seeing Dan run in fear of her. Two more days passed, Sally wanted to continue planning Dan's and her prank for Sonic; when she went to talk to him, he ran as usual. This made her worry about Dan. "Sonic, I'm worried about Dan. I went to talk to him and then he ran from me. How am I going to tell him that I'm not angry at him any more and continue planning our next raid," asked Sally. "How about letting me talk to him," said Julayla. "Julayla, I didn't know that you were listening," said a surprised Sally. "I would like to know why he still is running from me." "Okay I will tell you that when I find out, but you must tell him that you are not angry with him any more. I can't tell him that for you," responded Julayla. Later that night during bed check, "Dan, can I ask you a question," asked Julayla. "You just did, but sure ask away." "Why are you running from Sally?" asked Julayla. "Because I'm afraid of what she will do to me when she gets her hands on me," replied Dan. "Okay, that's a good answer but what if she has calmed down and wants to talk to you about any future raids on Robotropolis? So please consider this last statement while you sleep. Good night." said Julayla as she left. "Good night, Julayla," said Dan while fighting off his sleep. Later at Sally's hut, Julayla tells Sally all that Dan had told her earlier. "So that's the reason why he is running from me," replied Sally as she was settling down in her bed, "I'll talk to him after lunch tomorrow." "Okay, Sally. Good night," said Julayla as she walked out of the hut. "Good night," said a sleepy Sally. She knew that part of her was glad to see and hear that Dan is terrified of her wraith. The next day after lunch, "Sonic, can you please get Dan so I can talk to him," requested Sally. "Sure thing, Sal," replied Sonic. Sonic found Dan by the power ring pool moving stones around without touching them. "Dan, how can you do that?" asked Sonic. "I can do that because I have psychic powers that are classified as telekinesis and temporal-kinesis, in layman's terms, I can control the way time flows but only for me, and I can't travel back through time. I can also move things around with my mind," explained Dan. "Cool! Oh! By the way, Sally wants to talk to you," informed Sonic. "Okay, lead the way," said Dan. Sonic leads Dan to Sally's hut, when they got half way there Dan disappeared. "Sonic, where is Dan," asked Sally. "He is right behind me," said Sonic then he looked behind himself and saw that Dan was missing. Elsewhere Dan was climbing a tree in the Great Forest, "I'm not taking any chances on her turning me into a pile of bloody pulp," thought Dan. Back in Knothole, "Okay, we got to find Dan before he runs into any swatbots," said Sally, "We know why he disappeared, he still thinks that I'm mad at him." Sally assigns everyone their search sectors and told them where to meet. Later that day, "Okay, we haven't found him yet; he is bound to return for dinner," Sally said, "I'll talk to him during dinner." Unknown to the group, Dan was right above them listening to their conversation. "Sorry to disappoint you, Sally, but I'm not taking any chances." Dinner had came and gone, and Dan still hasn't showed up. Sally and the others are getting worried about him. "I hope Dan comes back and soon," said Rosie. The next day at dinner, they were still taking about how they can find Dan; when they heard a thumping noise outside of the dining hall. The doors open and reveals an injured Dan. Julayla immediately notices Dan's injured leg. "Rosie, help me get Dan to a bench," called out a concerned Julayla. Rosie and Julayla had lifted and placed Dan on the nearest bench. They quickly examined Dan's leg. "No doubt about it. It's broken and pushed right through the skin. I'll go get a first aid kit along with some stitches from the medical hut," said Rosie who ran off to get the supplies. The other children finally got a look at Dan's injured leg, it looked like a small white, red, and black mountain had formed on his lower left leg. They all looked like they were going to be sick at the sight of bone pushing out of the skin. Antoine fell into a dead faint. Sonic leads Tails away from the dining hall. The other children stayed behind to help with what they can. Sally talked to Dan telling him that she was no longer angry at him for his prank, and that she is sorry for letting this get to far out of hand like this. Dan was to weak to give a decent reply. Instead he just let Sally talk and lets her know that he will be fine. Rosie quickly returns with the med. supplies, and she and Julayla begin to work fast on Dan's leg. They first carefully pushed the bone back into place and then stitched up his wound that had started to bleed again. When the last stitch was finished, they wrapped his wound and then they went about setting the broken bone. "Dan, this is going to hurt," warned Rosie. As they set it, an ear splitting scream of pain was heard though out Knothole causing Antoine to wake up with a start. "Well at least we know that he is feeling better," said Rotor while rubbing an ear. "Yeah, who knew that he had a good set of pipes?" "My mom," replied a weak Dan. When they looked at Dan, they noticed a weak smile on his pale face. Rosie was bringing Dan a bowl of soup when Sonic came bursting in and said, "What happened? Who was it that had screamed?" "It was Dan, and we were at ground zero," said Sally who is still trying to get the ringing in her ears to stop. "It can't be. Dan was the one that screamed?" asked a doubtful Sonic. "Yeah, it was me, and I screamed out in pain," replied Dan who was starting to look better after eating some of the soup. "Why?" asked Sonic who was thoroughly confused. "Rosie and Julayla set my broken bone. They told me that it would hurt but not that much," exclaimed Dan. "Oh," replied Sonic. Dan went back to eating his soup when Julayla asked, "All right everyone outside, we have to tighten up the splint and clean up the blood and the blood trail left by Dan walking back here, or do you want Robotnik to find our little village?" "No," respond the children. "Good," and with that Julayla started to help Rosie clean up the blood that was on the floor. Sally got up to check on Dan. "Rotor, can you please help me move Dan to his hut," requested Sally after she noticed that Dan had finished the bowl of soup. "Okay, Sally," replied Rotor as he walked up to Dan and helped Dan to his feet along with Sally. They arrive at Dan's hut and placed him on his bed. "Thanks," mumbled Dan as he fell asleep on his bed. Sally quietly says, "Your welcome," as she and Rotor slipped out of his hut. They see Rosie coming to check on Dan. "Rosie, can you please tell us how long will Dan have that splint on?" asked Rotor and Sally. "He will have it on for aqbout six weeks," replied Rosie. "Oh." The six weeks passed very quickly. During those six weeks, Rotor made Dan some crutches. Sonic, Sally, and Bunnie played board games with him. Some times they would talk about what they will do when they finally beat Robotnik. "So Dan. How do you feel?" asked Rosie. "Fine," replied an enthusiastic Dan as Rosie removed the splint and stitches. Dan stood up and tested the leg. "It's good as new," added Dan. "Good, dear. Now Sally wants to know when you will pull that prank on Sonic," said Rosie. "I'll go tell her when we'll prank him," says Dan. He went to talk to Sally. "Hey, Sally" "Dan, what is it?" "I wanted to tell you that we prank Sonic tomorrow." "Okay, I know what to do and what about you?" "Yup, I sure do." The next day, "Hey, Sonic. I bet you one hundred chili dogs that you can't run this distance in under one minute flat," said Dan. "Okay, Dan. Your on," replied Sonic eagerly. As Sonic was getting into position, he noticed that Sally was heading towards them followed by Rotor, Bunnie, and Antoine. Dan now stood on a stump and was leaning against a knot in a near by tree. "Ready, set, go!" yelled Dan and with that Sonic took off at full speed. He crossed the finish line in under thirty seconds. He turns to Dan with a smug look on his face when he noticed Dan's look of absolute evil glee. Sonic then realized that he wasn't stopping. Sonic looked forward and saw nothing ahead of him so he relaxed a little. Then Dan jumped off the stump, and they all heard a winch being played out. Sonic saw a large ramp pop up in front of him. He hit the ramp dead on and was air borne. "He's up, over, and gone," called out Dan as Sonic flew over Knothole and landed in the power ring pool. Shortly after, "Dan, I'm going to get you for this," hissed a soaking wet Sonic. "Sonic, dry up," Dan coolly remarked. "Sonic. Dan. We're going on a raid tonight," called Rotor. At Robotropolis, "Okay, we got what we came for," said Sally as the others returned to their meeting place. They started to run out of Robotropolis When Dan says, "I'll hold back to take out any Swatbots, that might be following us." "Okay," said Sally. Dan hands his pack to Sonic and hides. "UT-oh Swatbots! They're right on time," thought Dan. He immediately started to fight them, buying time for his friends when one of the Swatbots knocked him out and took him to a holding cell to wait for roboticization. He quickly examines the locking mechanism and realized that it is a key lock. He immediately goes to work on the lock. Meanwhile back in Knothole, "I'm sure Dan is on his way back," said Sonic. "Yeah, he is too clever to be caught by those tin cans," added Rotor. But deep down they all feared the worst has happened to him. "He'll probably be back in the morning," said Sally, trying to bolster their courage and faith in Dan. The next morning, Sonic walks into Dan's hut looking for him when he smells, "Chili dogs!" exclaimed Sonic. He quickly finds a plate full of chili dogs in the refrige with a note by it. Sonic read the note while he ate the chili dogs. 'Sonic, I left this note in case I didn't return by morning. I made one hundred fifty chili dogs. One hundred as part of our bet and fifty extra as a peace offering. Enjoy. Dan.' Sonic ate half of the chili dogs for breakfast and the other half for lunch, which didn't make Julayla and Rosie too happy. A week has now past and Dan still hasn't returned yet. "Rotor, go find Sonic. I have to tell him something," Sally said glumly. "Okay, Sally." Rotor found Sonic by the power ring pool. "Sonic, Sally wants to talk to you," said Rotor. Sonic heads off to Sally's hut. "Well, Sal. What's the story," asked Sonic. "Sonic, it's about Dan," said Sally sadly. "Well, what about him?" "He was captured a week ago. Our last raid provided us with a computer file that had his description in a group of prisoners in holding cells waiting to be roboticized," said Sally, "I can't tell you what happened to him afterwards." "That's okay, Sally. You tried, at least we know what happened to him," Sonic sadly said as he walked out. "Well how did he take the news," asked Rosie as she entered the hut. "Better than I thought he would. Seeing how he and Dan were best friends," said Sally. Sonic ran to his hut with eyes full of tears. "Robuttnik, you will pay for turning my best friend into a mindless robot," swore Sonic as he wiped the tears from his eyes, and Sonic did make Robotnik pay dearly by trashing everything in sight every time Sonic and the Freedom Fighters raided Robotropolis. "So that's how you had got past us," says Sally. "So you heard all of it?" asks Dan calmly. "Yes, I did, and I have a surprise for you," says Sally coldly, "Let him have it!!!" Sally, Sonic, and Tails throw water balloons at Dan soaking him head to toe. "So it continues? Then here's my response," says Dan as he pulls on a rope. Sonic and friends look up just in time to see three buckets of water dump out on them. "He got us again," sputtered Sally with Dan, Sonic, and Tails laughing hardly. Then Sally shruggs her shoulders and joins the laugh fest. The End??? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I turn around and look at my visitors. "So what do you think about it?" I ask. "It's a good story. It's not every day that someone writes a story about us as kids to introduce a new character," replied one. "Yeah, I would of liked to had more of description of me other than a 'Blonde hedgehog'," replied another. "Hey. I used this story to establish your persona and besides I want to leave a little bit of a mystery in it, one that will be solved in the next one I write," I replied. "Well what's your reaction?" I asked my third and final guest. "I was surprised at the fact that I wasn't one of the main characters in the story until the end of it. Well at least you had me show up just as much as Sally did." replied my third guest. (FYI my guests are Sally, Dan, and Sonic. I gave enough clues to figure it out.) "Can you please tell us what will happen to us?" asked Sally. "Well let's see. There will be some interesting character development, another or two character(s) introduced, new abilities introduced, and changes made," came my reply. "Will you please elaborate on interesting character development?" asked Dan with a suspicious look on his face. "All right, you, Dan will find a girlfriend, you will explain more about your powers, you might accidentally walk into a tree, and Sonic might pull a prank that back fires. Just to name a few." "What!!!" exclaimed a shocked Sonic and Dan. Sally tries to stifle a giggle. "What are you giggling about, Sal?" asks Sonic. "The look of absolute shock on your and Dan's faces, when you heard the author's answer," replied Sally still giggling about their reaction. "You would like to know that not all of the developments will be in the same order. Also one of the new characters is introduced in a unique manner," I said. By this time Sally stopped giggling at Sonic and Dan. "Well, what changes are you going to make?" asked Sonic. "Dan and you cause so much trouble for Needle-nose. That he makes capturing Dan a priority two. I introduce your ultimate form, Super Sonic and give Dan an ultimate form known as Mega-Dan." "Cool! Hear that Dan, you're one step behind me in causing trouble for the badies," remarked Sonic. "Yeah, it's not cool. Its way past cool," added Dan. "Thanks for the visit," I said as my guests headed for home. They all waved good bye as they left. Author's note: I wrote this story for fun, not for profit.
