Sonic the Hedgehog: A Date With the Deroboticizer. You pile of useless junk," bellows a familiar voice. "Master Robotnik, I have located a portal that is similar to the one that Jessica Hedgehog had entered to escape," reported the robotic hedgehog. "Well, go after her. You rust pile," yells Robotnik. The robot enters the inter-dimensional portal an emerges into Sonic's home dimension. reports the bot's onboard computer. The bot does a full circle, The bot smiles evilly and races off in the direction indicated by its computer. Meanwhile, "Uh, Sally, Hun, are you okay?" asks Sonic. Sally walks back rom behind the bush that she ran behind. "I'm fine, dear," replies Sally who still looks a little green. "Sally, you look a little green around the gills," says Jessica. "She is not the only one, my wife, Diane is acting the same way," says Dan, "That's why I insisted that she stay back at Knothole." "Well, we won't get back there, just standing around," say Rotor. "Freeze freedom fighters." "Uh? On no, it's Justin!" cries out Jessica. The bot grins and says, "Well, if it isn't my little sister and she made some new friends." "Sis, get Sally and Rotor out of here," says Sonic. The bot's logic circuits are in a state of confusion by Sonic's statement because its memory banks tell it that it has only one sibling. Jessica takes off for Knothole with Sally and Rotor. "Yo, bolts for brains. How about taking on the main hogs of Knothole?" taunts Dan. "The main hogs? You two look more like the main chumps of Knothole," retorts Mecha-Justin. The bot charges at Dan and Sonic. They take off in opposite directions at full speed causing twin Sonic booms. The bot looks around for the two hyper active hedgehogs, when it is hit from behind. "Sonic, quick put a power ring into the bot's hand," calls out Dan. Sonic quickly grabs and places a power ring into the downed bot's hand. The ring gives off a soft glow that surrounds the bot. "Whoa, what happened?" asks Justin. He looks around and spots Sonic immediately. "Who are you?" "The name is Sonic Hedgehog," says Sonic, "It's a long story, but we won't have enough time to tell it and finish it because that power ring can't keep your mind free forever." "I can fix that," says Dan. He raises his sword high into the air, closes his eyes, and concentrates on the situation on hand. The sword gives off a heavenly silver glow that envelopes both the sword and Justin to mingle with the golden glow of the power ring. The ring melts and fuses into Justin's robotic systems. "Wow! Dan, what did you do to him?" asks Sonic. "I bonded the ring's power to him, in short I permanently freed his mind." "Cool, I'm no longer Buttnik's slave," exclaims the robotic hedgehog. "Well, Sonic, we better get back home before our wives come looking for us," says Dan. "So Sonic, are you going to fill me in," asks Justin. "Sure thing, brother." The trio race back to Knothole with Sonic telling his "new" twin bro everything thing that he needs to know. Later at Knothole, "We're back gang and Justin's mind is free. All we need to do is deroboticize him," says Sonic. "Sonic, we can't; remember the last time that we used the deroboticizer, the effect was only temporary," reminds Sally. "Oh yeah. Sorry, bro," says Sonic glumly. "It's okay, Sonic. You guys tried." "Hey, Sally, can I look at the schematics for the deroboticizer?" asks Dan. "Sure. Nicole, display the deroboticizer schematic." "Sure thing, Sally." "Here, Dan." Sally turns a bright shade of green and runs for the n earest bathroom. "Sonic, what's wrong with your wife?" asks Justin. "I don't know, bro." "HMMM." "Dan, have you found anything?" asks Justin. "Yes and no. Sonic, how did you get the parts for this unit," asks Dan. "We salvaged some from the trash and took other parts from the actual roboticizer," answers Sonic. Sally comes back looking a little ragged. "Dan, did you find anything?" "Yes, and Sonic provided me with the final piece of the puzzle," replies Dan, "Theoretically, the unit should be working, but in reality, it is a partial success. Due to the salvaged parts, when electronic parts age they lose some of their properties thus they don't operate the same way the use to. Thus causing the unit to function in a way it wasn't meant to." "So how do we fix it?" asks Sonic. "Simple, we rewire it to be a roboticizer," comments Dan as he enters a few commands into Nicole. "Are you crazy!!!" yells the others. "No, I'm not. Then we add this circuit between the chamber and the primary control unit," says Dan as he shows them a schematic of two transistors with their emitters tied to together and the collectors are also tied together. "What is that?" "It's an operational amplifier or op amp for short. In this configuration, it acts as an inverting amplifier with a gain of one," say Dan as he hands Nicole back to Sally. "I get it, when we insert this circuit into the control lines it will turn the roboticizer into a deroboticizer," exclaims Sally. "Lets get Rotor on right away," says Sonic happily. Later at Rotor's workshop, "Wow! That is so simple, why didn't I think of that?" asks Rotor after Dan told him about his plan of action. "Hey, you forgot that I had lived with Uncle Chuck and Sonic for a year before the coup, during that year I learned a lot about electronics," says Dan, "You learned by a hands on approach, Rote." "Well, I'm going to need some high power transistors to pull this off," notes Rotor. "We'll get them," says Justin. "Sally, before you say anything, you stay here. It will be easier if the three of us go. With our speed, we'll be in and out before Needle-nose can react," says Dan. Sally opens her mouth to say something to the contrary but finally decides that Dan is right. "Okay," she sadly says. Later while the three hedgehogs are heading to Robotropolis, "Hey, bro, who is Uncle Chuck?" "He's our uncle who was boticized and then got his free will back," says Sonic. "A family, Sis and I have a real family again," says Justin, "Before Robotnik took over, I had a mother, father, and a two year old sister. That was eight years ago." "So what happened to your folks?" asks Dan. "They were killed while fighting Robotnik. My mom told me to take Jess and to run away as fast as I can," says Justin. "Oh, I'm sorry. At least you know what happened to your folks. My parents vanished when I was four, a year before Buttnik invaded. But before they disappeared, they sent me to stay with Uncle Chuck and Sonic." "Yeah, to this day, we still don't know what had happened to them. Everyone else had learned what happened to their family except for Tails and Dan." "Man, Dan, You had it tougher that I did. I feel sorry for you," Justin glumly says. "Okay, we're here. Spread out and look for those parts," calls out Sonic. Meanwhile back at Knothole, "Rotor, how is the rewiring coming," asks Sally. "I'm half way through the system," reports Rotor. "Hey, Sally! Is the rumor true?" asks Jessica excitedly "What rumor?" "The rumor that the deroboticizer will be on-line shortly," answers a joyous Jessica. "Yes, it is. Dan, Sonic, and Justin went to get some parts for it." "So what was the problem with it?" Sally tells Jessica everything that had happened during Dan's, Sonic's, Justin's, and her conversation and Dan's plan to bring the deroboticizer back on-line. "Wow! Justin and countless others will be back to normal finally!!!" "Yup, that they will. Now if you will excuse me," Sally says quickly as she turns a shade of green that matches Jessica's quill color. "I hope that she is all right," thought the young hedgehog. "Meanwhile in Snively's command center, "Those freedom fighter will pay for destroying my supply depot," thought the little man. He looks at the status report of the repairs to Mecha-Sonic and the building of a new bot, one that is more powerful than both hedgehogs combined. "Yes, revenge will be sweet. I will make them suffer then boticize them," thought Snively with evil glee. "Swatbot, why are the repairs to Mecha-Sonic taking so long?" "MASTER, WE HAVE TO COMPLETELY REBUILD THE UNIT MECHA-SONIC DUE TO EXTREME DAMAGE TO ITS PRIMARY MEMORY CORE AND CPU CHIP," replies the swatbot. Snively frowns upon hearing this report. Back at the junk yard, "Sonic, I've found the parts," calls out Justin. "Way past cool, bro. Lets juice them over to Knothole," says Sonic. "Well, true blue. Lets blow this pop stand before we are 'sniffed' out by Snively's beak," jokes Dan. Justin and Sonic nod once, and then the group race off for Knothole. Later at Rotor's work shop, "Here are the parts that you requested, Rote," says Sonic as he hands Rotor a hand full of high wattage transistors. "I'll build the reversal circuit, so that we can test it." "But, first, Sonic, get Nicole from Sally," says Dan. Sonic blasts off to his and Sally's hut. "Dan, why wait," asks a confused Rotor. "I want to test the unit without the reversal circuit to make sure that the energy output in nominal," says Dan. "So that we know for fact that it will work," says Rotor who understood instantly. "Got it, Dan." Sonic come back in carrying Nicole in one hand. "Good. Nicole, prepare to scan the energy field from this roboticizer," orders Dan. "Ready for scan," replies the little hand held computer. "Now, Rote, activate the unit." "Okay." The boticizer powers up, lowers a glass tube, and emits a purple light. "Yes!!! The energy pattern is nominal!" exclaims Dan while pumping an arm in joy. "Okay, Rote. Install the reversal circuit," says an ecstatic Sonic, "and test it again." Rotor quickly installs the circuit and activates it again. The unit powers up again, lowers the tube, and emits a golden energy. "Dan, what is the result of the analysis?" asks Justin. "Full inversion. It's going to work!" says Dan, "We did it!!! The deroboticizer is on-line!!" "Well, bro. Ready?" asks Sonic. "I was born ready, bro." Justin walks into the deroboticizer's chamber and stands in the center of the plat form. "Okay, Rotor. You know the drill," says Dan. Rotor nods his head and pushes the activation button. The unit does its thing; it lowers the glass tube around Justin and baths him in its warm golden glow. In a few minutes, it's over and out steps Justin restored to flesh and blood. He is indeed a double of Sonic but with green eyes. "I think that we should watch you just in case you revert to your robotic form. Is that okay, bro?" asks Sonic. "It's fine by me, bro. I would probably do the same if I was in your position." Later at Jessica's hut, "Hey, little sis. You home?" asks a restored Justin Hedgehog. "Yeah, I'm home, big bro," calls Jessica as she steps from the bedroom. She stops dead in her tracks and gasps at the sight of her older brother back to his normal flesh and blood self. She happily runs up to him and hugs him. "I'm glad that it worked," says Jessica as she let go of her brother. "Me too, Sis," adds Justin. "Hey, sibs," calls out Sonic as he entered the hut. "So, bro. What's up?" asks Jessica. "We've analyzed the portal. Unfortunately it appears to be a one way ticket." "You mean we're stuck here?" "No, but it might be awhile for it to open up to your world," says Sonic. "Face it, sis, this not a bad place to live. We have a family here another sibling, a sister-in-law, and an uncle. Sure our friends are Buttnik's slaves, but we will free them eventually," says Justin. "Yeah, I know but how?" "Rotor thinks that we can create an artificial portal. If we can, that's how we will go to your world and save your friends," says Sonic, "I better go see Dr. Quack about something to help settle Sally's stomach." Sonic walks out of the hut and zooms off towards the med. hut. "Hey, sis. When did Sally come down with this illness?" "About three or four days after their wedding, and Diane started up about the same about of time after her and Dan's wedding. Why?" "Just wondering," says Justin, "When were the weddings?" "Sally's and Sonic's was about one month and two weeks ago. Dan's and Diane's was one month ago." "Hmmm. I wonder," thought Justin, "if it isn't caused by a virus or some other unknown pathogen." Later at the med. hut, "So, Dan, picking up something to help settle Diane's stomach?" asked Sonic. "Yeah, the same for Sally?" asks Dan. "Yup." Dr. Quack comes back with two bottles of antacid and hands Dan an Sonic a bottle of their own. After they left, Dr. Quack looks at the latest report from the lab on the two blood samples. Dr. Quack walks into the waiting room and says, "Well, ladies the results are back from the lab." "Well what decease did we contract?" "Well, Sally. You two are pregnant." "What?!?!" "Should I tells your husbands?" asks Dr. Quack "No, we will tell them," says Diane. "Thanks, Doc," adds Sally as they left for their homes. "So, Sally, at least that explains the weird cravings," whispers Diane. "Yeah," says Sally. The end Author's note: This story was written for fun not profit. You may print it out if you want.
