American Head News

February 10, 2002: Reorder Narcotic and American Head will be playing at Th' Space above Battery Street Jeans, in Burlington, Vermont, at 8pm on Friday, the 29th of March. American Head will be celebrating the release of their new live album "Kluppers and Kitchen Sweat". No alcohol, drugs, cigarrettes of verbs. All ages, free show, free coffee.

October 5, 2001: In an effort to make more news, American Head announces it will record a Hip-Slop album with fresh faced youngster MC Sloppy. The album should be out sometime in the next 10 years. American Head's much hyped live album is nearly completed, and will be available in a month or three.

August 23, 2001: The summer tour has been cancelled. American Head had been stuck in a murky swamp. Plans are being made to pull them out sometime in the next couple of months.

February 9, 2001: American Head is planning a tour for the summer of 2001. If you would like to book us, or know someone who might, e-mail us at tour@americanhead.com. A live CD is in the works. We have enough material. We just have to decide what to use. Also, we never mentioned our show in Wooster. Well uh..., we played at the Green House at the College of Wooster sometime in January. It went pretty well, but we couldn't get some things working. It happens a lot when you're in a nerd band. I think we reached maybe one person with our touching after school special attitude.

November 30, 2000: Apparantly, American Head's latest album, "This Provincial Life is Killing Me..." (6 of 40) was on WFMU's Top 30 heavy airplay list from as far back as September. We just found out. This is Hoboken, folks: the BIG TIME.

October 24, 2000: American Head will be playing on Thursday, October 26th at the Old Gym at Bard College as part of the Bard's first concert of electronic music this semester. Included in the line-up are 1. The Bard Electronic Music Ensemble (A 7 person group all working towards sonic exploration through improvisation), 2. Paul P. (famous for his ear tinkling tape pieces and rock and roll persona), 3. Evan M. (will lay down some abstract beats), 4. v.stevenson (will attempt to forward his odd mix of glitch and drone to new heights), 5. La Plague (the more experimental side of hard core teckno and "drill 'n bass"), and of course 6. American Head (sample-happy duo concerned with keeping you puzzled as well as entertained). For directions or answers to puzzling questions, email BobFosse@americanhead.com

September 16, 2000: Listen to WTBU 89.3 FM or 640 AM from 8-11am on Monday September 18, because American Head will be played sometime in those 3 hours. You'll hear some stuff from album 4 of 40 "Mother Earth Has Really Really Big Tits." WTBU is the station for Boston University. You can listen on-line or if you live in the Boston area tune into 89.3 FM or 640 AM.

August 27, 2000: American Head has been very busy lately. On August 17th we played a spectacular show at Club Metronome. Re-Order Narcotic (Jason Cooley and I forget the other fellow's name (it could have been Eric), sorry, he was very nice though. I think he still has our stretchy white guitar strap.) opened the show with a rock and roll extravaganza consisting of several keyboards, sampling thingy, guitar and vocals. We hope to play more shows with them in the future. We went on next. The audience responded to our "gusto" as one person put it with equal enthusiasm. The press showed up to take pictures beforehand, as American Head enjoyed bottled water backstage (seriously). Smalls got the Nintendo power pad working so all could enjoy the sounds of foot stomping sample excitement. James Kochalka went on last and riled the crowd to unfathomable happiness. All the bands enjoyed the other bands. Friendliness ran free. The following day Jason Cooley (Re-Order Narcotic, and guitarist of James Kochalka Superstar) interviewed us at a local coffee place. The interview, along with photographs, will be in a new magazine to come out in October. It's called Spit Magazine, and I don't know a lot about it. It'll be a local Burlington 'zine as far as I know.

July 23, 2000: Show with James Kochalka Superstar and The Shit at Club Metronome on August 17th! We have a lot of ideas, but not much time to plan or organize them. Come to see if you can tell our fumbles from intentional noise.

July 22, 2000: On Tuesday, July 25th, an all American Head show will be aired on WHRW from 1-4pm (3 hours!?). Thanks to my good friend Eprom, this show will feature ancient American Head, plus the latest stuff from your underwatered friends. Listen online, or at 90.5 FM in Binghamton, NY.

July 22, 2000: The show at 242 was eh... well, we had fun. There weren't too many people there (the other bands and their girlfriends). People who said they'd come didn't. We had no energy, but managed to pull off a nice musical malaise. A live drunken sailor bit livened things up, but then an invisible monster beat the energy out of us again. Live shaving by Anthony Spear gave the show an edge.

July 11, 2000: Come see us Tuesday, July 18th, at 242 in Burlington. If it's anything like our last show there, then you're in for a treat.

May 7, 2000: American Head pulled it together at the last minute to play in the cafe section of the Student Center at Bard College. It was an adventure for all present. The show was different from all other American Head shows to date. Mostly improvised, it included live record scratching of Cabaret, tape manipulation, computer sampling, and electric guitar performed by Eli of Subcontinents. Jackhammer and Brontosaurus danced and sang gracefully in their new khaki jumpsuits, delivered by musical man/machine 12HitCombo. Jackhammer's antics left the audience shocked and confused. Brontosaurus nearly convinced one fan that he was actually break dancing! He sustained minimal bruises. A couple of Negativland members popped their heads in during the show, but they were mostly busy setting up on their big fancy stage. It turns out Peter Conheim of Negativland has a similar stuffed animal that sings the exact same "Jesus Loves Me" tune that American Head has sampled on their not-yet-released 74 Minutes of Pain. 12HitCombo recorded American Head's performance on its cybernetic minidisc implant. Copies will be available shortly. The Negativland show was really good too, in case you wanted to know. Details about their True/False tour on Negativworldwidewebland. Tons of new MP3s are available on our audiogalaxy page. It's time to fucking go to bed.

April 10, 2000: BIG NEWS! NEGATIVLAND is coming to Bard College on May 5th, and American Head will be opening for them! This news needs to be spread around the world thirty five times so that everyone knows Christmas isn't real. But this is real. American Head will be playing real music for real people like you. Real new songs, real old songs, really old songs, and a couple of fake songs too. This show is part of Negativland's True/False tour, which marks the 20th anniversary of the band's formation. It will be an extraordinary multimedia show. American Head will perform feats of daring and courage, and hopefully live up to expectations and impress the Gods. Be there or regret your existance.

February 25, 2000: American Head will be playing at Bard College in the Old Gym at 9:00 on Friday, the 25th, along with a number of Bard bands bringing better borscht bomb biggots ballot booger brooch. Beware. There will be lemonade and other refreshments served. No coyote urine this time. Bring your bosom buddies.

August 26, 1999: The show was went well. One source in the crowd reportedly heard audience members jeering delightful comments such as, "If you stop now we won't beat you up after the show," and "Even on hard drugs you suck." My favorite is "I'm gunna hit him in the eye." Jennifer Breakfasthead was untouched by the testosterone overloaded crazies, but did injure himself break dancing. Sheriff Jockstrap confronted the crowd with a shaving cream mask, but wasn't able to deliver the prize to #33. Eli from Subcontinents played bass, and saved us when the power on the computer went out. A couple of girls in the front said we "kicked ass" and there were a few sympathizers who stayed quiet to avoid getting attacked. In other news, Regular Records has changed its name to Rodnark Records. There is already a Regular Records in NYC. We don't know who was first, but we're playing it safe to avoid another lawsuit.

August 8, 1999: American Head will be playing 242 main in Burlington, Vermont, on August 21st. There will be a bunch of bands there from 4-11. When I find out the exact time American Head is to play on stage, I'll post it on this web site. If we're lucky we'll be opening up for James Kochalka on August 25th at Club Metronome in Burlington.

March 18, 1999: The show was a success. American Head received a screaming encore. Pa and Subcontinents warmed up the audience before American Head got on stage. American Head never got to do a song with 12HitCombo, because he was shut down by the cops for being too loud. The entire show was recorded on video camera, and DAT. A CD of the show "Assholes on Parade" can be obtained through Quantity Records. The CD will cost a few bucks.

March 8, 1999: American Head will be playing live at Bard College at 8:00pm on March 11th! Bring your friends. Also featured is 12HitCombo and Subcontinents. American Head will do a song with 12HitCombo and 3HolePunch.

Eventually an American Head video will be available through Quantity Records. The video will include: American Head live from Bard College, a video of Locura (Royal Sampler) and Sweaty (Christian Science Reading Rum), American Head opening up for Chainsaws and Children on public access television, and Jones In a Car (a short film about driver safety). There will be fun surprises as well.
