History

She was brought into the world intended for evil. Her creator was a German scientist who wanted to take over the world by replacing the human race with his creations, stronger, and completely loyal to him. The Cyber series was such a creation. They were much stronger, faster and more graceful than the average human. Her name was only Cyber 338, being the 338th of the 5000 Cybers.

The Cybers were considered a failure by the scientist, because they were too independent and disobedient. At nine years old, the scientist, then going by the name of Von Reichter, had them killed- all 5000 of them. Even the 338th.

Von Reichter served in World War II as a Nazi scientist. He has changed bodies twice, in order to stay young. When he fought in the war, he had a lab assistant, named Marryn Diedrich. Marryn left the project soon after, disgusted at Von Reichter's insanity and obsession with power.

When Marryn visited her old warmate, to her horror, she discovered inhuman creatures dragging out the dead bodies of thousands of children. She stole one of those bodies- the 338th and flew back to her own lab. There, through her genetic engineering, life was brought back into the body of the child. The child had no memory; none of motor skills, speech or what had happened in the last nine years. She was literally reborn and as helpless as a baby. Marryn kept the girl as her granddaughter and named her Kayla.

When Kayla was sixteen, a tragedy occurred. Von Reichter was killing any and all who had contact with him, especially those who served with him during World War II. Marryn was found and brutally murdered. Kayla had been playing in a meadow at the time, and had no knowledge this was happening. When she found her grandmother, she grieved and vowed revenge on the man who had killed her only family.

Despite her young age, she left Switzerland and began tracking Von Reichter. She, like any of Von Reichter's creations was dependent on a liquid called sustenance and needed it to stay alive. This was a problem; but soon she discovered that his creatures were everywhere, and that she simply need to deactivate those creatures to obtain the sustenance. The most common creatures were called technos: creatures intended to infiltrate human society and eventually replace humans.
Her travels eventually led her to Japan, where she heard that Von Reichter was attempting to strike a deal with the Japanese Government on biological warfare. Although, she panicked at the last moment, she stayed in Japan: she was accepted as a student by a Ninjitsu master. He taught her martial arts and meditation, and her strength quickly grew. She stayed with the other students until six months later, when the temple burned down by rival ninjas.

The 18 year old Kayla flew to North America and eventually decided to settle down in New York City, which was abundant with Technoes and Fixed Ideas, another type of Von Reichter's creatures. She enrolled in New York University and slept on campus. She discovered her hidden amazing intellect and majored in Computer Engineering. By this time, also, her memories were completely restored and she hated Von Reichter more than ever. She poured over books about Literature, Arts and Math and completed her courses in half the time as normal. Afterwards she worked as a software designer, and found the job incredibly tedious. One night, she was angered by her drunken, lecherous employer and in a blind rage, killed him. She left New York City afterwards.

Kayla spent a brief time living in a village in Africa, helping the tribal people and also spent much time in Europe and South America. She constantly tracked Von Reichter, but at the same time, she was afraid he would recognize her for one of his creatures. Every time she had the chance to kill him, she backed out at the last minute. Eventually she came to a city called Meridiana, "City of the Damned."

When there, she discovered with shock and happiness, that she was not the last cyber. There was indeed another Cyber, one who had escaped before the grisly killings: Cybersix. She did not have a name, but she led a double life disguised as a man named Adrian Seidelman. Kayla spent a brief time with her sister and a panther named Data 7-also a creation of Von Reichter who rebelled-fighting off monsters sent to destroy Cybersix, for Von Reichter was well aware of Cybersix's existence. During the entire time, Kayla tried to stay discreet; she thought the secrecy of her existence was a necessity for her survival. After three months of living in Meridiana, Kayla died-she was shot by Von Reichter's clone after helping to a monster.

Two years later, her sister Cybersix discovered Marryn's old journal. It had notes detailing the experiments of World War II, and more: it had a lab procedure for the experiment which brought Cyber 338 back to life fifteen years ago. With the help of her lover, she dug up the corpse of Kayla, and resurrected her.

They had tried to modify the experiment so that Kayla would be able to retain her memories but it was not completely successful: Kayla retained no memory of what had happen in the last twenty-some years; she did not remember Von Reichter, Marryn, Cybersix or even her death. Disappointed, Cybersix left her alone. The confused Kayla had no idea of who she was, or who to trust, and ran away, hoping to start a new life.

Kayla rented an apartment and was hired as a computer programmer. Though she loved her job and her new life, she began having nightmares and delusions; often they were confusing, and of death and pain. They were, in fact, not delusions, but flashbacks; however, she was too disoriented and they were too confusing to be understandable.
Over the weeks, she became incredibly weak as well and her arm would occasionally "short out": glow green and become surrounded with electricity. Eventually her mentality nearly broke down as she began hallucinating, and hearing voices. She thought she was going insane. One night, the consumed Kayla was blindly running through Meridiana when she collided with a man. The man was called Midnight Five. He was a creature from the Midnight series, an improvement over the Cyber series, and he served the late Von Reichter's clone. Midnight Five, instead of turning her in to Von Reichter's clone, explained that she was going through withdrawal from lack of sustenance and he suspected her hallucinations to be an undiscovered withdrawal effect as well. He brought sustenance to her and she quickly regained her health.

Against Cybersix's wishes, Midnight Five and Kayla became friends. Midnight Five could relate to Kayla's confusion: he, too, was a creature intended for evil, and indeed, served evil. But he did not feel evil nor did he think Von Reichter was evil. He confessed he was searching for something: like her, he felt incomplete. He believed Von Reichter's clone, a ten-year-old boy named Jose, held the answer, but as time went on, he began to doubt this. Kayla's life began to settle, when another tragedy struck: Midnight Five died. He died helping Cybersix, and realizing too late, that Jose was evil.
