The Writing Process

Now you know the different types of writing that you can choose from. Here is a key to your next step. Now that you know the type of writing you will be doing and what it consists of, it's time to learn what process you will follow to go from having an idea in your head to writing a complete essay.

The process of writing is always similar, varying only slightly when you change the type of writing

The steps of the writing process we will be using for your writing are:
  1. Brainstorming: you will think about any important things you'll need in your story, and make a list or fill out a graphic organizer to get your thoughts together.

  2. Rough Draft: you will organize all of your information into an actual story. That means it will have a beginning, middle, and an end.

  3. Editing: you will exchange papers with a classmate for peer editing. This means you will check each other's papers for spelling or grammar errors.

  4. Final Draft: you will re-copy your rough draft with corrections onto a clean sheet of paper. Sometimes, final drafts look even better if they are typed.

  5. Illustration/Picture: they are not always included in the writing process, but when writing about certian things, an illustration or computer generated picture usually adds alot to most stories.
