CultureAround Varlonan, these are the typical aspects of this race's lifestyle preferences.Weapons: None. They are playful and mischievous, but they actually detest real battle. If they have to defend themselves, a series of spells will be thrown out until they can escape. Armor: Since they are the size of other humanoid races, they can wear their armor. Pieces must be customized however to not be too heavy for their hollow bones and fragile wings. Currency: Gold. They aren't as easily tricked as the smaller Fae race, and know that the more Gold they have, the more sugary sweets they can obtain. Giant Fae are also obsessed with shiny objects, and consider them prized treasures... whether it be a ruby, or a scrap of metal. Diet: Sugar. Bigger than other Fae, but still primarily the same anatomy, their diet is also sugar rich. Fruit instead of sugar cubes is the obsession of choice for Giant Fae. Cinnamon sticks also, which are bitter to most people but sweet to the Giant Fae's sensitive pallet for sugar. Attire: Color, color, and more color! Since they have the advantage to fit into the 'big people' clothes, they are usually very knowledgeable on what is the current fashion. As long as it has color in it, they'll wear it, and most of the time add a bunch of other trinkets to make them shinier. Environment: Similar to the elves, they try to keep their homes to trees or fields. |
RelationshipsPartners: More reserved than the smaller Fae, they still tend to be romantic, but often a bit shy. They'll still search far and wide for the perfect gift to offer to the one they want to settle down with. Since they have the option to mate outside their own race, often they need to learn to adapt to the way of living of their partner.Friends: The Giant Fae are still tricksters, going invisible to play pranks on others as their advantage since they are too big to get away with doing it in the open. Sometimes the Giant Fae can be worse than the smaller Fae, because they get cocky with their size, thinking that no one will be able to just "capture" them to make them stop, and they can just turn invisible to flee. Friends are hard to obtain for Giant Fae, and they do not have the luxury of large numbers for companionship either. Some think they play tricks on others as their own way of bonding, because they are so incredibly lonely. Foe: Giant Fae are lucky to not have the hardships smaller Fae do. However, they do have a natural enemy: the Ice Elves. The two races are very often mistaken for each other, enraging the Giant Fae and insulting their ego. This drives all the Fae, large and small, to relentlessly bully the Ice Elves for purposefully (or so the Fae assume) making themselves look like Fae and ruining their reputation. Children: Giant Fae have far less children, sometimes going their entire lives without having one. Since children are something that require lots of responsibility and effort to take care of, Giant Fae find them more a burden than a blessing. They don't make the most responsible of parents either... sometimes neglecting or even abandoning their young for something more entertaining. It's even been rumored that Giant Fae children are sold off for shiny gems when offered. Territory: Giant Fae get to settle down in a single location if they choose, though most thoroughly love an adventure and choose not to settle. The more excitement they can have in their life, the better! If they partner with someone, they'll often live with them, but still be gone often to join adventure parties. |
HistorySo if you looked upon a Giant Fae, what would you think they were at first? An enlarged version of the smaller Fae perhaps? Yes, that could be one perception. Did you know though, that there are many sages that say the Giant Fae might not be Fae at all, but actually an unknown branch of Elves? Well, if they are... the Elven community hasn't acknowledged it! So then what is their history? Its hard to say. Most sages have not found any documentation about their ancestry. There are many theories, such as being related to the Ice Elves, or just evolved versions of the smaller Fae. Could they be a winged version of the Sun Elves? Maybe they are even a more humanoid version of the Myrmidon! Okay, the point is... we honestly have no idea where they came from. Some races are just impossible to figure out or pass along information on. You'll just have to decide on your own by walking up and asking one. Don't worry, they're mostly approachable! | |
