What is Psychic Vampyrism
In all generality, a Psychic Vampyre is someone who is incapable of producing the energy needed to survive. This life energy, also known as pranic energy, is naturally created by the body. Those who cannot create this energy must feed off of others who can in order to keep their levels of pranic energy stable. Psychic vampires accomplish this through mental abilities (empathy) which let them tap into a life source and take in their energy for thier own. There are blood vampyres as well. They are known as sanguinarius vampyres, and also have an energy deficiency. Instead of feeding through psychic means, though, they get their energy through blood, which is the highest physical source of pranic energy. The energy increases magickal power and sensitivity, makes one feel more energetic, and adds to vitality (in laymen's term...its like a high).
There are warning signs that happen to many psi's before they awaken.
~ A stressful or painful moment in your life
~ Clinical depression (normally uni-polar)
~ Prone to sickness suddenly (get sick multiple times in quick succession)
~ Drinks with citric acid start to cause stomach cramps
~ Sunlight is tolerable, but is more sensitive than before
~ A feeling of unexplained emptiness
~ Strong sense of how those around you are feeling.
~ Those around you feel tired or cranky for no real reason.
Though you may have one or two of the following symptons in your life don't automatically assume you are a vampyre. Document everything and reasearch, join a community to ask questions and learn.
Psi vampyres have to deal with the constant urge to feed for the rest of their lives. Its not a glamourous life and it ca be a pain to deal with and if one doesn't feed properly or if one doesn't learn how to block out the negative energy, they can become very ill.
There seem to be more Psi vampyres these days then sanguines. Possibly because drinking blood can result in the transmission of various blood diseases, including HIV. Blood is an emetic substance taken in large doses wiil make one vomit and become quite ill.
Also large quantities of blood of an incompatible type is highly dangerous.
Since everything has energy and gives it off, its easy for a psi to feed. Whether one chooses to feed off a person, or a crowd, an animal or the elemental, there is always a good supply for one to feed off.
