Name: Ryoko

Series: Tenchi Muyo

Ryoko is an artificial life form created by Washu. She has really cool powers, including flight, walking through walls, teleportation, creating energy beams to shoot at people, an energy sword, and calling spirits. She's got a great attitude, always ready for a fight. She fell for Tenchi, the main character, and in my opinion is his best suitor.

We first meet Ryoko as a demon who has been trapped in a cave for seven hundred years. Tenchi accidentally lets her out, and she later attacks him, as he is the descendant of the man who imprisoned her. By the end of the day, though, she has stopped trying to kill him.

Despite her apparent wildness, Ryoko has a soft side, and a serious side, too. There are moments when she shows some deep feeling for Tenchi, as well as for other members of the cast. And when there is a battle, or real danger, we can always count on Ryoko to fight hard and be tough.

Name: Kamiya Kaoru

Series: Rurouni Kenshin

Kaoru is a 17-year-old kendo instructor, who both studies and teaches the Kamiya Kasshin style, whose core philosophy is, essentially, "The Sword That Gives Life." An orphan, she runs the sword school on her own. She had no trouble until the "Battousai" incident, during which she met Kenshin. As the story continues, she becomes not only in love with Kenshin, but a continuously stronger swordswoman, who applies her ideals and her skill to any situation, and is always ready to help those in need. Despite having lived on her own for a while, she is rather naive about the world and the people in it.

I'm aware that there are some people who don't like Kaoru, because she has a tendency toward throwing temper tantrums. However, there are many, many instances in both the anime and the manga in which Kaoru proves to be very kind and sweet. She has a very bright smile, which always forms when she sees Kenshin! She's strong and courageous and likes to help people. And Yahiko, her student, improves dramatically over the course of the series, attesting to her ability to teach.

Name: Kino Makoto

Series: Sailor Moon

Sailor Jupiter is the fourth senshi you meet in the story. She is very strong and very good at fighting. She is also a bit boy-crazy, but that's all right because she is fourteen years old when you first see her. Her parents died in a plane crash when she was very young, so she lives on her own. She is a very good cook.

Her English dub name is Lita, and she is the tallest of the inner senshi. Her powers vary from manga to anime. In the manga, aside from having attacks associated with thunder and lightning, she has plant-related attacks, such as "Flower hurricane" and "Coconut cyclone." In the anime, this is eliminated, except for one, more advanced attack. In the anime, most of her attacks are lightning-related.

One thing I really like about her is that while she's tough and kind of scary when she's angry, she is generally very nice and easygoing, and would do almost anything to help her friends.
