Pairing: Buffy/Faith

There are some things that only magic can explain. Buffy knows this better than anyone. She's seen it perform some truly awe-inspiring feats, like bringing her back to life. Like transforming a group of young girls into killing machines. Like turning Sunnydale from an outtie into an innie.

She understands the way magic works - mysteriously - and she doesn't question it.

For the things that magic and common sense can't explain, Buffy wonders if she needs to turn to religion. For a second she almost laughs at the very thought, but then she remembers the beauty of heaven and knows that while she may not be a churchgoer and thinks that the only place for the Bible is under the wobbly end of her book shelf, there's something bigger than us all out there.

She doesn't think to question it again.

And for those things out there that are beyond the limits of magic, common sense, and religion, Buffy knows there are explanations. She's dug deep, looked far and wide, and found the explanation that she's been searching out for what feels like ages.

That thing that Faith does with her tongue? Well . . . it's just a plain damn miracle.
