WHAT IS THIS SITE ABOUT?

This site is devoted to the Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec-V and those who are interested in budget-minded performance and cosmetic enhancements.

HOW CAN MY COMPANY SPONSOR YOUR CAR?

Well thanks for asking! Your company can inqire about sponsoring my car by e-mailing me @illegalvspec@yahoo.com. Significantly discounted prices or whole components will be considered a "sponsorship". What you would get in return is a link or banner on the main page, link on the Links page, praise on this site (and any message boards i am part of) as well as decal space on my vehicle. i plan on attending many Race, Drift, Drag and Show events thoughout the year so exposure is not an issue. This is not why i started this site but someone asked, so there you go.

WHAT MAKES THE SPEC-V SO SPECIAL?

It's massive 2.5L DOHC 16V inline 4 with gobs (180lb/ft.)of lag-free, tire-melting torque, varible cam timing and intake paired with very respectible suspension (complete with strut bar and polyurethane bushings) make it an impressive sub-$19k car. Add standard goodies like a 6-speed manual, a helitical limited-slip differential, 4-wheel discs (Brembo or ABS options available 2004+ models) and wide performance tires on 17" wheels and you've got a sleeper track car that seats 5. Oh, did i mention the Skyline-inspired seating and front fascia (2002-2003)? Life is grand.

WHAT IS THE SPEC-V'S CLOSEST RIVAL?

Probably the Lancer Ralliart featured in THIS shootout or the Impreza RS.

WHAT IS THE SPEC-V'S COMPRESSION RATIO?

i get this alot for whatever reason. 9.5:1 In addition it also has 89.0mmx100.0mm stroke.

WHAT IS TAKING SO LONG?

Many folks have thousands of dollars to spend on making a full-out race car. I DON'T. The reason i purchased the Spec in the first place was the sheer amount of performance parts it had from the factory. For the price there are few cars that can match it. So, that being said i have set out to eek out as much performance from my daily driver without sacrificing drivability and the ever important asthetic appeal. Because of financial limitations this may take a while...

IS YOUR CAR "FAST AND FURIOUS"?

You will not see any cut springs, thousand-dollar body kits, aluminum spoilers, "Bling-Bling" chrome wheels, 200lb sound/video systems, whistle tips, neon or flame-throwing exhausts on my car. (NOTE: Not that some of this stuff isn't cool for many folks i just don't have money to spend on stuff that's going to ultimately slow me down.) What you will see is enhancements that can perform without breaking the bank.

WHY THOSE MODS?

My goals (and budget) are different then your's probably. One guy may want a show-car to win trophys with that never sees hard driving, you may want a full-out road racing car for SCCA events. If either is the case, money will be the one factor you will run into again and again. If you see a price lower then what i have posted. E-mail me at: illegalvspec@yahoo.com and i will post where this updated price can be found.

CRIMSONSHADOW, WHAT IS THE BEST MOD I CAN MAKE ON MY CAR?

Keep in mind that the best performance modification you can make is the one reading this site right now, YOU. Go to an autocross or two, take a performance driving course or practice in an empty parking lot.

As far as asthetic enhancements try to see that often less is more. Fancy graphics and body kits look great on D1 and Grand Prix cars but often a well-kept, clean (inside AND out) and uncluttered car can get just as many looks. You may not get teenie-boppers noticing your ride but you may get a few veterans and enthusiasts to give you a nod.

WHAT DID THE FIVE FINGERS SAY TO THE FACE?

SLAP!

WHAT DOES SPEC-V MEAN?

Based on what i have read on the SE-R Spec-V and countless Message board discussions "Spec-V" is little more than a nod to our bigger brother in Japan, the Skyline GT-R V-Spec.

WHY MODIFY YOUR CAR?

This is a common question and has a few answers. The reason i make modifications is a combination of hobby and Autocross performance. Some people golf, i have my car. My goal is to make a great car better.

Some people make modifications just for the "Bling" factor. An example would be clear tail lights, big, heavy, shiny wheels or "big bass" stereos. Many of these things are cool for some people but make little or no real improvement to the performance of the vehicle in question.

A true "Mod" would be a header, cold air system, dampers, turbo, splitter, fuel computer, slotted rotors, ect,ect...
