Whissen Mill

Introduction

Whissen Mill was located along Stony Creek in the town of Edinburg. This mill was spared during "The Burning" by General Philip Sheridan during the War Between the States because it sat on the side of the creek opposite the town. When Federal cavalrymen attempted to cross the creek at the nearest ford, they were fired on by Confederate Forces behind The Whissen Home at the foot of Whissen Hill.
