I know the "key" to writing songs is to write about what your audience will like, but if you don't feel what you're writing, or feel what you are playing, then there is no point in writing it, or playing it. In order to be successful in this business, you have to be alive with the music that runs within you. It binds the best of us together, and that's what the songs you write need to accomplish. Who cares if people don't like your music. What you need to think about is that the impact you made on the few humans out there, is your own impact. Not one that you copied or made just to please them. Do your own thing. Sometimes it can be for the better.
