Part 2
Not more than an hour had passed when there was a knock at the door. Sarah had dozed off so the knock startled her.
Mumbling as she stumbled to the door, “Who could this be?”
Opening the door, she was by greeted Kevin’s lazy smile as he leaned against the door frame. “Hey, baby. Were you asleep?”
“Uh huh. I thought you’d be gone by now.”
“I’m on my way now but I want you to go with me. Go up and pack a bag.”
Protesting, “Kevin, you’re going to Kentucky to visit your family. I can’t go with you.”
“Why not? You’re part of my family too.” Putting his hands on her shoulders, he turned her and pushed her into the house shutting the door behind him with his foot. “Take your cute little butt upstairs, grab a bag, and pack some things for the weekend. I’m NOT going to take ‘no’ for an answer and I’m not leaving you here for the weekend all alone.”
“How did you know I was alone for the weekend?” asked Sarah looking up over her shoulder at him.
“A little birdie told me,” grinned Kevin scrunching his nose.
Shaking her head, Sarah said, “Howie called you, didn’t he?”
“Maybe….maybe not. Becca could have called too. What difference does it make? You’re going with me to Kentucky and that’s all there is to it. Now, do I have to go pack your bag for you?”
Laughing, Sarah said, “No, you don’t. What do I need?”
“Well, clothes would be nice but not altogether necessary,” teased Kevin.
Rolling her eyes, she snorted, “You’re incorrigible.”
Pulling her into a hug, he said, “But you love me anyway. Just pack some jeans and make sure you have your boots. I’m not exactly sure what we’re gonna do and if you need something more, I’ll buy it for you.”
Standing on her toes, Sarah placed a soft kiss on his lips. “I’ll be back in a flash. Do me a favor. While I’m packing, call Rachel and tell her I won’t be there tomorrow.”
“No problem.” Kevin watched her dash up the steps and then picked up the phone to call the youth center.
