Part 15
The next leg of the tour was due to start after a six month break. It had been set that way to allow Tyler to have the baby and give them time at home. It gave Kevin and the children time to get into a routine and for Kevin to hire a full-time nanny for the children. During that time as well, Kevin had spent many sunrises at the chapel talking to Tyler. He loved this time of day now, when he could be at peace with the loss of his wife.
Now, Kevin was in New York for a spot on an early morning talk show to promote the next leg of the tour. Fans were packed in the studio and many were outside watching the big screens so that they could see them perform. Kevin had joined in the conversation about the tour and the music and what the fans could expect. It was near the end of the interview that Kevin had dreaded.
"Why so long between the two legs?"
Howie spoke up, "Tyler, Kevin's wife, had found out she was pregnant before the wreck and management was giving her time to have the baby and for Kevin and Tyler to spend time with the baby."
"Kevin, we'd all like to express our deepest condolences over the loss of your wife and unborn child."
"Thank you. Tyler was also Howie's cousin and a close friend to the others as well."
"Wasn't she also one of your choreographers?"
"Yeah, she was," answered Howie. "She was Kevin's partner when we had the dancers on stage with us as well but this leg, we're going to be doing more sitting and less of the dance moves we normally do."
"So, you are about to perform for us. What can we expect to hear?"
Brian spoke up, "We've picked three songs, three songs that were Tyler's favorites. One of them, the fans have never heard and the last one, one that Kevin wrote for his father."
The guys moved to the stage where there were stools set up for each one and a piano off to the side. The first two songs were 'Drowning' and 'Safest Place to Hide' and the fans loved it completely.
With those two songs done, Kevin moved to the piano and adjusted his mic. "This next song,"" started Kevin, "I wrote for my dad after he died. Tyler, this is for you…I love you, baby and you'll forever be in my heart."
The entire studio and all of the fans gathered outside were already in tears knowing what song it was going to be. They even saw each of the guys either bow their heads as Kevin was talking and Kevin dash away his tears.
Kevin closed his eyes and felt her warmth beside him. He could see her in his memories sitting beside him as he placed his fingers on the keys. As he began to play, he heard her voice 'I'm here beside you,'Boo'.'.
The things we did/The things we said/Keep comin' back to me and make me smile again/You showed me how to face the truth/Everything that's good in me I owe to you
Though the distance that's between us/Now may seem to be too far/It will never separate us/Deep inside, I know you are/Never gone, never far/In my heart is where you are/Always close, everyday/Every step along the way/Even though for now we've got to say goodbye/I know you will be forever in my life (yeah)/Never gone (No, no, no, no)
I walk along these empty streets/There is not a second you're not here with me/The love you gave, the grace you've shown/Will always give me strength and be my cornerstone
Somehow you found a way/To see the best I have in me/As long as time goes on/I swear to you that you will be
Never gone, never far/In my heart is where you are/Always close (always close), everyday (everyday yeah)/Every step along the way/Even though for now we've got to say goodbye/I know you will be forever in my life (in my life, yeah)
Never gone (gone from me)/If there's one thing I believe (I believe)/I will see you somewhere down the road again/(I will see you somewhere, somewhere, somewhere, somewhere)
(Never gone) Never gone, never far/In my heart is where you are/Always close (always close, always close), everyday (everyday, everyday)/Every step along the way/Even though for now we've got to say goodbye (yeah, yeah)/I know you will be forever in my life/Never gone, never far/In my heart is where you are (in my heart is where you are)/Always close (always close), everyday (everyday)/Every step along the way/Never gone, never far/In my heart is where you are
