Chapter 91
Alone for the first time all day, Chelsea nestled next to AJ, her hand on his stomach, while he played with her hair.
"It's been a long day," stated AJ. "Are you okay?"
"Tired but extremely happy. Things are worked out with my dad and brothers, Annie has her father, and I have the man of my dreams."
AJ placed a kiss on her temple. "Why don't you skip the show and get some sleep?"
"And miss you flirting with me?" she asked in feigned amazement.
AJ laughed, "You just want to see the fans wet themselves because they're jealous."
"Uh huh! I have their one desire!" she smirked.
AJ rolled her so she was laying down and he was on top of her. Framing her face with his hands, he dipped in to kiss her. "You are my one desire, beautiful. How much longer before we can get nasty?"
"A couple days, I guess, but you know, I CAN satisfy you," she leered.
"Sounds promising," and he wagged his eyebrows at her. There was a knock at the door and AJ, without taking his eyes off Chelsea, said, "WE'RE BUSY!"
Chelsea giggled, "It's either Kevin or Daddy."
Kevin pushed the door open, "Hey, cut out the make-out session."
AJ buried his face in Chelsea's neck letting out a groan as Chelsea laughed, "Hey, 'Boo'."
Kevin let the door close and joined them as AJ got up helping Chelsea up too.
"Hey, what's up?" asked Kevin as he took a seat.
"I wanted to talk to you about Annie," said Chelsea. "Since I'm staying with Alex until December, I'm going to enroll Annie in an online homeschool program."
"I was wondering what you were going to do."
"That way, she can still be with both of us but there's a catch that I need your help with."
"What's that?"
"Well, you know Daddy wants me to pin his rank insignias on him but what he doesn't know is that he's administering my oath to join the Marines. I head to training in January for ten weeks then I'll be stationed in California as a part of the JAG corps at Camp Pendleton."
"That's kinda far from where 'J' lives."
AJ smiled, "I'm going to sell my place and get a place in Huntington Beach so she can live off base."
"I know it puts distance between us but we'll work it out, Kevin," promised Chelsea.
"Baby, you're FINALLY achieving your dreams! I'm proud of you and will support you however you want," smiled Kevin.
"Thank you. While I'm in training, I want Annie to stay with you and Alex but you're going to have to make sure she gets her work done."
"Got it."
"Also, do NOT say anything to anyone just yet. I don't want Daddy finding out until it's time for him to do it."
"Not a problem. I know he'll be extremely happy."
Another knock at the door and Major Whitlock and Annie joined them. Annie rushed into Chelsea's arms to hug her first before giving AJ and Kevin hugs too. She settled into Major Whitlock's lap finally.
"Did you take a good nap?" asked Kevin.
"We both did," answered Major Whitlock, "until my phone rang."
"Everything okay?" asked Chelsea.
"Just General Farr calling to inform me that my pinning-on has been moved to eleven that morning."
"That's okay. The wedding is going to be a sunrise service," answered Chelsea as she put her head on AJ's shoulder, his arm wrapped around her. "Why did they change it?"
"Seems some snot-nosed college student has requested that I administer the oath after my promotion," grumbled Major Whitlock.
Kevin and AJ snickered and Chelsea said, "Daddy, it's probably one of your men's sons or daughters that knew what you meant to their father. Did they tell you any more about the recruit?"
"Just that they'll be coming in as a 2nd Lewie."
"Sooo, they're headed to officer training."
"Most likely. What's for dinner?"
"That was why I came in here in the first place. The buffet has been set up," said Kevin.
"Give Chelsea and me a couple minutes and we'll join you at dinner," said AJ.
"That's cool. Chels, how do you feel about us celebrating the wedding before we head to Toronto?" asked Kevin.
"Sounds good. I didn't want to do anything after the Darian Lake show since Alex and I are headed straight to Virginia so I can make sure everything is set for the wedding."
"When is your mother going to be at the farm?" asked Major Whitlock.
"She's already there and has everyone working on getting things cleaned up and ready for the wedding."
"What about a rehearsal?" asked Kevin.
"The night before," answered AJ, "and a dinner that'll be catered afterwards. We're going to do a reception then with the traditional dances and such that night too since there's so much going on after the wedding."
"We ARE having a breakfast catered after the ceremony."
"Daddy, I'm hungry!" she whined, as she pulled at Kevin's hand.
"Geez!! Cut out the whining, Annie," groaned Kevin as he rolled his eyes.
Chelsea laughed, "You never could stand Nick's whining!"
"I'm not having my daughter whine," stated Kevin. Looking down at his daughter, "Can you ask politely?"
"Daddy, can we please go eat? I'm hungry," asked Annie.
"MUCH better," praised Chelsea. "You knew that was how you were supposed to ask in the first place. DO NOT let Uncle Nick teach you bad things."
"But he's fun to be with!"
"That may be, but he has bad habits that YOU do NOT need to pick up."
"Yes ma'am."
Alone again, AJ hugged Chelsea tight and she asked, "What's wrong, Alex?"
"Nothing. I just wanted a few more minutes alone with you."
"Mmmm, I like that. We only have one day that we don't leave from one show to head to the next one and THAT'S going to be a party."
AJ reached up and lifted her chin to kiss her. It was slow and deep, his fingers caressing her cheek. "I love you, 'Beautiful'. Don't ever forget that."
"Never!"
The couple went to join the rest of the group for dinner and then it was time for them to get ready for the show.
