Part 72
“Why can’t you see Kevin is still in love with you?” steamed AJ.
“So what if he is? It’s HIS problem, not ours,” said Chelsea calmly as she moved to him. She put her hands on his sides. “Alex, I am in love with you and no one is going to change that.”
AJ’s temper evaporated and he threaded his fingers in her hair. “How do you do that?”
“Do what?”
“Get rid of my anger.”
“The same way you manage to surprise me. Now, stop letting Kevin get to you. We have happy things to focus on.”
“First…what did you ask Kevin?”
“I asked him to give me away.”
“And?”
“He said he would but he also said he’s gonna try and get my father to the wedding.”
“Do you think he can?”
“Not going to hold my breath waiting.”
AJ took her hands and pulled her to the couch where he sat down with her on his lap. “When are you going to the doctor?”
“Next week when I’m in Virginia taking my finals. I’ve already called and made the appointment.”
“I wish I could go with you.”
“I know but there will be more chances.”
AJ put his hand on her stomach. “Are you going to stay with me for the whole tour?”
“Depends on what the doctor says. I want to stay with you as long as possible but I want the baby to be born in the United States.”
“I want to be with you for the birth.”
“I wouldn’t have it any other way.” Chelsea began to trace the tattoos on his arms. “If someone had told me last year this time that I would be planning my wedding with you, I’d have told them they needed to be committed. “
“I know.” Looking at his watch, AJ said, “Come on. I have sound checks.”
“Can I make a request?”
“You want me to sing something special for you?”
“Yeah.”
“I’ll do what I can but we’re supposed to sing certain songs for the fans.”
Chelsea pouted, “I’m a fan.”
“Yeah, you are. What do you want to hear?”
“Lay Down Beside Me.”
“I haven’t done that song in so long…how about one of my newer songs?”
“Doesn’t matter. You pick something you think I’ll like.”
“I promise…you’ll like what I pick.”
“I’m sure I will.”
Chelsea started to get up but AJ held onto her, burying his face in her neck and taking in her scent. “The day you walked into my life was the BEST day of my life. You have made my life complete.”
Tears welled in her eyes. “How am I going to get through our vows if you make me cry like this?”
“You’ll do it. Let’s go.”
