Part 54
A peacefulness settled over the entire house as the couple cuddled next to each other. AJ lightly traced designs on her bare stomach as he watched her. So many thoughts raced through his mind. “What kind of advice was Kevin giving you?” he finally asked softly.
“Relationship advice,” was her whispered response. She reached up to pull the catch around so she could get to it as she said, “Alex, I want to give you something.”
AJ realized what she was doing and said, “Chelsea, you never take that off!”
“I know but I want to give it to you.”
“Chelsea, no! That necklace is special to you.”
“But what we have is MORE special to me! Alex, this afternoon, you cut your ties to Sarah by giving up your dogs and I know how much your dogs mean to you. I can’t cut my ties to Kevin completely because of Annie, but I can show you that I’m NOT holding on to what we had by taking this necklace off and giving it to you.” She took his hand, placed the necklace in it, and closed his fingers around it. “I am totally committed to making US work!”
Reaching behind him, AJ put the necklace on the bedside table and then turned his attention back to Chelsea. “I have never really doubted us and this is why. Whenever I have had questions, you always manage to show me that I have nothing to worry about.”
Chelsea held her hand up and AJ placed his against hers, then laced his fingers with hers. As she looked at the tattoos on his fingers, she said, “I love you, Alex.”
“I love you too, ‘Beautiful’.”
Still holding her hand, AJ rolled so that he was on top of her. Without breaking his gaze, he pressed into her waiting body. Slowly he started to move in and out. There was such tenderness to their passion, a love building with every kiss and every touch. In no time at all, they fell into a rhythm that only lovers could have.
Spent, AJ lay beside Chelsea once more playing with her fingers. He was content to just watch her. She had made a fresh start with her life…he needed to do the same. An idea popped into his head and he knew immediately that he had to run with it. First thing Monday morning, he would get the ball rolling and give her….them…everything they deserved.
Chelsea touched his cheek. “What are you thinking about, Alex?” she asked softly.
“I was just thinking about something I want to do.”
“Mmmmm….make love again?”
“Woman, you’re gonna wear ME out,” he laughed softly. “No, you’ll just have to wait and find out what it is I’m planning. Now, go to sleep. You’ve had a long day.”
Chelsea sighed as she snuggled closer to him.
Within minutes, her breathing slowed and AJ knew she was asleep. Placing a kiss on her lips, he whispered, “Sleep tight my beautiful woman!”
