Part 43

Fingering the silk of the exquisite gown Kevin had left her, Stormy couldn’t help but wonder what was going on.  She pulled it on and then the robe, tying it tightly, and headed downstairs.  As she reached the bottom of the steps, she was stunned even further to find a fire going, the lights down low and romantic music playing on the stereo.  After the scene in the bathroom, then the gown, and now this, Stormy was on edge.  Why was Kevin doing this?

Kevin came out of the kitchen with a bowl in his hand and spotted Stormy looking around the room.  “Hey!  You look like you feel better.”

“A little,” answered Stormy shyly as she pulled the robe even tighter.

Kevin set the bowl down and moved closer to her.  “I’d kinda hoped you’d leave the robe off.  That gown is my favorite.  I picked it up in Tokyo the last time we were there.”  He reached to untie the belt of her robe as his voice dropped to that sexy bedroom voice he’d used early, “The color matches your eyes perfectly.”

Stormy’s eyes followed his hands and she allowed him to untie the belt.

“Umm, looks as good as I thought,” admired Kevin as he pushed the robe back to expose the front of the gown.  Slowly, he closed the distance between them and placed her hands on her waist.  “Alex always has had an eye for sexy ladies.”

Stormy put her hands on Kevin’s chest.  “Please stop, Kevin.”

“Come on, Stormy.  You know you want this,” growled Kevin as he pulled her tight against him.  He leaned in to her, his mouth covering hers and his tongue probing for entrance.

Her mind spun out of control but she managed to push him back enough to break the kiss.  “I DON’T want this, Kevin.  Now let go of me,” she demanded as she struggled to free herself from his hold.

“Your mouth says ‘no’ but your body says ‘yes’,” said Kevin as his hand covered her breast squeezing roughly.  “Besides, ALL of AJ’s women want a roll in the hay…even if it isn’t with AJ.”

With all her might, Stormy slapped Kevin.  Angrily, “I’m NOT like ALL his women!  Now, I’m going back upstairs and putting my clothes back on.  Then, either YOU can take me back to the hospital and Alex or I’m going to call a cab.”

Stormy tried to leave but Kevin managed to stop her.  “No, you don’t’ have to, Stormy.”

Jerking out of his grasp, she glared at him, “Yes, I DO!  I’m NOT going to stay here and let you try to take advantage of me.  I love Alex and I’m NOT going to be unfaithful to him.  I can’t believe you!  You’re SUPPOSE to be his best friend.  He loves you like a brother.”

“I realize that.  Look, I had to be sure for myself…that you really weren’t like the others.  I see now that you weren’t just saying the words…that you meant it when you said you weren’t like them.”

Softening, Stormy said, “I told you I wasn’t.”

“I’m sorry.  I do love Alex and because of my love for him that I don’t want to see him get hurt again.  He’s been through so much in the last few years and he’s really worked hard to find himself.  Just like he’d risk his life to protect you, I’d risk mine to protect him.  I promise, I’ll behave if you’ll stay.”

Stormy saw the sincerity in his eyes.  “What are you going to tell Alex about this?”

“That he has one hell of a lady,” Kevin smiled as he rubbed his cheek, “who’s got one hell of a mean slap.”

Looking at the handprint she’d left on the side of his face, Stormy said with a smirk, “That’s what you get for putting the moves on me.”

“You’re right,” laughed Kevin.  “Now, how about that brownie?”

“Sounds good to me,” smiled Stormy as she slipped the robe back on.  This time, she didn’t tie it quite as tight as before.

Kevin offered her his arm and she took it willingly letting him lead her to the couch and the bowl he’d set down.  She settled on the couch as he handed it to her.

“This looks REALLY good,” she praised as she dug in to get a spoonful.  Taking the delectable treat into her mouth, she moaned, “MMMM, this is sooooo sinful.”

“Thank you!  Enjoy.  I’m gonna go grab a shirt and…”

“NO!” She practically screamed it and when she saw Kevin’s look of surprise, she realized how it must have sounded causing her to blush.  “I mean, you don’t have to put on a shirt if you’re comfortable like that.  I’m fine with you like this.”

“Are you sure?  I don’t want you to be uncomfortable.”

“I’m fine, really!” insisted Stormy.

“Okay…then I’ll go fix myself a brownie and join you.”

When Kevin returned, he settled on the couch with Stormy and together, they managed to finish off the entire batch of brownies Kevin had made and the ice cream and hot fudge.  All the while, they talked and shared stories about their pasts getting to know each other better.

After licking what remained in her bowl, Stormy set the bowl down and yawned. “Oh god, I’m REALLY stuffed now.”

“You certainly put a hurtin’ on the brownies!” teased Kevin.  “Got a hollow leg or something?”

“No, just hungry,” laughed Stormy.  “This has been really nice.  Thank you.”

“You mean AFTER I put the moves on you?”

“Honestly, even that was kinda nice,” blushed Stormy.  “Kevin, would you have done it if you hadn’t been out to prove a point?”

The one thing Kevin had learned about Stormy was her insecurity of not having dated.  Tenderly, he reached to brush her hair back as he said, “If you were available and I wasn’t married, sure.  I meant what I said about Alex having an eye for sexy ladies.”

Stormy felt the red rising in her cheeks but a yawn escaped.

Kevin laughed softly, “You’ve had a long week, Stormy.  You can take the room where I left the gown.”

“Isn’t that your room?”

“It’s okay. I’ll sleep here on the couch.  I don’t mind.”

“Thanks.  What time do visiting hours start at the hospital?”

“Ten but you just go on up and get some sleep.  When I take you back, I want you to look your best for Alex so he won’t worry.”

Stormy leaned over and gave Kevin a kiss on the cheek.  “Night, Kevin.”

“Good night, Stormy,” whispered Kevin.

Making her way to the steps, Stormy stopped and looked back at Kevin who was gathering their dirty dishes.  “Kevin.”

“Yeah?”

“You’re not nearly as bossy as Nick and Alex made you out to be and you really are a terrific big brother!”

Before Kevin could respond, Stormy had bounded up the steps leaving him with a smile on his face.
