Part 11
The full moon lit the gardens as if it were daytime as Samantha wound her way through. Her whole life had led her here to ‘Eternity’ and a peaceful contentment filled her. The society she grew up in would shun her for what she felt was her destiny…bearing a son to all three men…but in her new world, the world that those men ruled, it wouldn’t matter. Her only regret was Brian’s death.
Now though, she had one thing on her mind and that was finding Alexander. He was so angry and she wanted to calm him, before he took another life, plunging him further into the world of evil. Aware that she was being watched, she stopped at a bench on the edge of the woods and took a seat.
As she rested, two eyes appeared on the edge of the darkness of the forest. Seeing them, she called out tenderly, “I’ve been looking for you.”
Cautiously, the eyes looked around the clearing, searching for others.
“I’m alone. Come on out.”
A lone black wolf emerged from the forest and made his way to her. Sitting before her, he stared at her, waiting.
“Why are you so angry?” she asked.
He gave soft yips before tucking his head and putting his paw in her lap.
“Brian’s death was….unavoidable in your eyes and I forgive you,” she whispered as she stroked the soft fur. “I’m not angry with you. Can’t you feel my love?”
He gave a pitiful whimper in response.
With both hands, she took his head and looked into his eyes. “Well, I do, whether you believe me or not,” and she placed a kiss on his wet nose.
A noise alerted him and he turned towards it placing himself between her and potential harm. Teeth exposed, he let out a steady, low growl.
Howard stepped from the shadows of the garden. “I should have known you were with her.”
“We were just talking,” explained Samantha.
“Has he hurt you?”
With a shake of his body, Alexander transformed. “I’m NOT a fool. I’m quite capable of loving a woman….just like you.”
“I’m fine, Howard,” answered Samantha as she stood. Moving to stand beside Alexander, she put her hand in his as she asked Howard, “Give me a few minutes with him, please.”
“I’ll be down by the lake.”
Howard left the two alone and Alexander turned to face her. “Thank you.”
“I can’t stay long, Alex.” Looking into his eyes, she saw the emotions that tortured him. “I’m here for all three of you, Alex, but I can’t be with you until you let go of the anger. It’ll destroy me if you don’t.”
“Stay with me tonight. Hold me, talk to me,” he pleaded.
“I can’t, Alex. Tonight is the right time and before I can bear Kevin’s child, I must be one of you.”
“When can we be together?”
“Be patient, my love,” she whispered as she put her hand on his.
Leaning in, his lips touched hers and he felt like he was falling. This must be what angel wings feel like, soft and airy, he thought as his hands moved to her waist to pull her to his body. He deepened the kiss as his body burned for her. He had to wait but how?
As she heard an owl calling her name, she pulled away. “I have to go now,” she breathed. “We will be together…soon…before the next blue moon.”
She soothed the ache within his heart and as she disappeared, he felt the anger that held him in its clutches dissipate. He knew she would keep her promise.
