Chapter 14
"Kevin!! Oh my god!! Lance did call you!" said Tyler as she began to cry! "Oh, Kevin! I miss you so much."
"Baby, are you okay?"
"I am now that I can hear your voice!"
"I'm coming to get you, baby!"
"No! You have the tour! I'm okay now."
"Tyler, I can't stand the thought of you being held like this."
"It's really not so bad. The worst part was not talking to you, 'Boo'."
Tears rolled down Kevin's cheeks and then he remembered the guys were standing there. He said, "Baby, there's some guys here who want to talk to you. I'm going to put you on the speaker."
Kevin switched the phone over to the speaker and Howie said, "Ty! Are you okay?"
"I'm great, 'D', now that I can talk to you guys!"
"You had us scared, Ty," said AJ.
"Believe me, 'Bone'. I was just as scared. I didn't know when I'd get a chance to talk to y'all or even get a message to you."
Nick said, "Hey! Are you read for us to kick some butt?"
Tyler laughed, "Yeah, 'Kaos'! I'm ready."
Brian said, "Ty, it's really good to hear your voice. Are you sure you're okay?"
"Tired. I kind of got use to having a certain guy holding me every night so I haven't exactly slept that great! I'm also going stir crazy because I can't leave my room."
Howie said, "Come on you three. Let's give Kevin some privacy."
Kevin switched the phone off the speaker as the guys left him alone. He said, "Baby, I've never been so scared in my whole life. I thought I'd lost you."
"I'm not about to leave you, 'Boo'! The one thing that's kept me going is the thought of having your arms around me again...soon."
"Very soon, baby. I'm going to call the authorities and tell them where you are. They can arrest Lou and you'll be able to come and go as you please."
"Thank you, Kevin."
"How's the baby?"
Tyler laughed, "I felt him moving."
"Oh WOW!! What's it feel like?"
"Like butterflies."
"Wild! Baby, as much as I'd like to talk to you all night, I've got to go do a show."
"Knock them dead, 'Boo'."
"I'll be singing for you, baby. I'll call you after the show."
"I love you, Kevin."
"I love you, Tyler."
Kevin hung up and went to join the others for the show. Tyler lay on the bed and thought about Kevin. She could almost feel Kevin's arms around her and she fell asleep easily knowing that it was almost over.
That night after the show, Kevin called Tyler like he'd promised.
Sleepily, Tyler said, "Hello."
"Hey, baby. Were you asleep?"
"Yeah, but that's okay."
"Has Lou been back?"
"No, and I've been able to leave the room."
"Good. Baby, there's a room reserved for you there. I had Linda call during the show. Get whatever clothes you need for the show Tuesday night and anything else you need."
"Kevin, I can't afford it."
"Don't worry about it baby. It's all taken care of."
"Thank you."
"No need. I just want you safe. 'Bull', Carlos, and Tommy are headed out there to be with you."
"Aren't they your bodyguards?"
"Mine, AJ's, and Howie's but that's okay. We've got enough security and we're worried about you."
"I love you, baby."
"Go on and get your room. I'll call you in about half an hour."
Tyler hung up and got up. She grabbed her jeans, pulled them on, and left the room. She made her way to the lobby and the desk. She gave them her name and the clerk gave her the key to her new room."
When Tyler got to her room, there were flowers everywhere. She took the cards out of each of the arrangements and read them. The guys had all sent her flowers. Then she went to the roses by the bed. There were 11 red and 1 white one in the arrangement. These were from Kevin. As she was reading the card, the phone rang.
"Hello!"
"Hey baby. Do you like the room?"
"It's wonderful, especially the flowers. Are the others around?"
"No. They're on their buses and we're headed to Denver."
"The Monday show?"
"Yeah."
Kevin and Tyler went on talking and Kevin sang her to sleep.
Sunday morning, 'Bull', Carlos, and Tommy had arrived at the hotel and Tyler spent the day by the pool. She had taken Kevin's credit card that Carlos brought to her and bought what she needed for clothes including a bikini. With the guys there, Tyler was free to move about freely and she wasn't worried about Lou. Little did she know that he still hadn't been arrested.
Monday afternoon, Joey, Lance, Chris, Justin, and JC arrived at the hotel. Lance went to find Tyler after getting into his room. He knocked on her door.
"Lance!" greeted Tyler with a hug.
"Are you okay?
"Yeah! After I talked to you Saturday, Kevin called and he handled things from there. Lou's been arrested for kidnapping me."
"Tyler, we talked to Lou this morning. I don't think he's been arrested. If he has, then he's out on bail."
"Well, 'Bull' and two other of the guys' bodyguards are here so I'm safe. Is Joey in his room?"
"Yeah! You know, he was really excited to get here so that he could see you."
"I know but I don't love him the way he wants me to, Lance. It will never work for us."
"I understand."
"Why don't you walk with me to his room?"
Lance and Tyler walked together to the guys' floor, the one she had been on when Lou brought her there. Joey was in the hall headed to find Tyler and he greeted her with a hug. Tyler pushed him away though.
"What's wrong, Ty?"
"We need to talk."
Joey led her to his room and closed the door. Joey turned to her, "What's wrong?"
Tyler took a deep breath and said, "There's no easy way to do this so here goes. Joey, I'm really sorry if I've hurt you but I'm not in love with you and I'm leaving you."
Joey felt like he'd been punched in the stomach. He looked at Tyler and asked, "What did I do?"
"It's not what you did, Joey. For the most part, you were really sweet but I'm not in love with you. My heart belongs to Kevin...it always has."
"You've been seeing him behind my back, haven't you?"
"No! I was faithful to you, Joey."
Tyler saw the anger spread across Joey's face and all of a sudden, Joey slapped her! The force knocked her onto the bed and she looked at him in shock.
"You're a liar and a slut! Lou told me you never went to Tampa! Were you with him then?"
"Yes, but Joey, it's not what you think. I needed someone to turn to!"
"Why? I never meant to hurt you that night! I was drunk! I never touched you after that."
"Lou was blackmailing me, Joey! Kevin and the guys came to see me at the theater the Wednesday before you left and I couldn't take it any more. I told Kevin what was going on...including that I'm pregnant."
"Is it his baby?"
"No! I told you, I've been faithful to you, Joey."
"I don't believe you!!! I caught you calling him."
"That was the only time and believe me, I could have called him any time I wanted from work."
That made Joey even angrier and he lost complete control. He went after Tyler
on the bed trying to rape her again. Tyler fought hard and screamed.
'Bull' had followed her and heard her screaming. He broke into the room and
pulled Joey off Tyler and held him back so she could get up.
JC, Justin, Lance, and Chris had heard Tyler too and they rushed into the room. Lance asked, "Are you okay, Tyler?"
"Yeah, I'm fine."
"You're a slut! How can I believe that this baby is mine?"
"I have no reason to lie to you about it, Joey. If it were Kevin's, do you REALLY think I'd be that mean to tell you about it?"
"There's no telling with you, bitch."
Justin said, "There's no need for that, Joey. What's going on?"
Tyler said, "I broke up with Joey and I was telling him about the baby. He raped me about two months ago and got me pregnant."
Joey laughed desperately. "I may not be able to have you but I got something that Kevin will NEVER have from you!"
Softly, Tyler said, "Joey, I never meant to hurt you!"
"Bull!!"
Tyler looked at the others. "I'm sorry, guys. I promise, I'm not going to let this get out to the press."
"We're not worried about that," said Lance.
"Tramp! I will see you go down! You'll never be happy with Kevin because I'm going to destroy you!" threatened Joey.
'Bull' said, "Mr. Fatone, there are restraining orders filed. You are to stay away from Tyler, Kevin, and all the Backstreet Boys. If you attempt to slander ANY of them, you will be sued."
Joey looked at Tyler in disbelief. "How could you do this?"
"I had to protect myself, Joey. I want you to be a part of the baby's life and I'm willing to work with you."
"Go to hell! You will never see this baby after it's born...if it's mine!! I'll sue for custody!"
Tyler said, "It's your baby, Joey, but you will never get full custody of him, not as long as I have breath in my body."
With that, Tyler and 'Bull' left and Tyler went back to her room to call Kevin.
