Class: Rugosa Height: 6' Width: 6' Bred: Bugnet, Canada, 1950 Description: Fragrant, light pink, repeat flowering. Comments: I originally purchased this plant one of those pathetic "body bagged" bareroot plants from a local discount store several years ago. It did really poorly, but since I was interested in practicing my rooting techniques, I rooted cuttings. When we moved to our current garden, I left behind the sickly mother plant and brought one of the cuttings. It was planted in Rose Bed One during the Fall of 2000. The own root plant has been free of the mildew that plagued the grafted plant, and has shot up to about five feet. I can detect a frangrance on the flowers now, but never could on the mother plant. The canes turn a beautiful, vivid red in the winter and the plant is one of the first to bloom in the spring. I would not want to be without it now that I have grown the healthier plant. | ||
