Exegesis: (n.)
1. An explanation or critical interpretation (especially of the Bible).
2. (Math.) The process of finding the roots of an equation.
At Houghton (and the other Christian colleges in the world), we've come across this word. But why limit such an interesting word to Christian colleges? Why not expose it to the public? I propose a universal usage of this word, and I shall be the one to start the trend.
How does exegesis work? Well, it analyzes the meaning of a passage in its historical sense; that is, what the author intended the work to mean, not the "mainstream" definition. Without exegesis, the Bible can be critically misinterpreted. Therefore, it should be expanded to other things in life, from music to prose to idiotic speeches by the leaders of our fine country. And it begins here.
I will be the first exegetical interpreter. You might think I'm simply interpreting things just as you might normally, but this is EXEGESIS! YEAH!
