How to draw hair
This is what we are making.
Base by Doodle Dollies
What you will need:
- PSP 7...5 and 6 I am sure will work.
- An idea or an image for inspiration.
- Some knowledge of the tools in your graphics program.
- Time and patience.
- First on a NEW layer (name it hair if you wish) we need to draw an outline of the hair you have decided on.
- Next thing you should do is to fill it with a lighter shade of the same color. And add any strands that you think it needs.
TIP~Be sure it is completely closed off before filling.
- Now grab your retouch tool
 and set it on darken...here are the setting I used. But I encourage you to play and figure out what you like.
Now follow the dark outline on the head and also remember to darken in the spots where the hair would be underneath. Now change it to lighten and do the same in the inside of the dark outlines.
- Now still using the retouch tool. Go to dodge. and just quickly follow the curves of each wave. Now it should look something like this.
- Change to smudge and smooth out the edges of the sections that you just used the dodge tool on.
See picture below...circle indicated where to smudge.
What she should look like now.
- You can either leave her like that or just add a few more shadows and highlights with the darken, lighten, and smudge tool. Just add some clothes and there is your beautiful doll with fabulous hair!!!!
