Standard Education

Why do we send our children into a school system and trust others to enlist them in the proper lifestyle?  We’re putting ourselves on trial, and in a while they’re just another file.  Our parenting skills are better than that, and we need to see the letter in that.  Conformity towards standard education versus intellect through higher elevation of love, trust, and caring.  You’re sharing your life with your child but when it got too wild you dialed up the caretaker, the daycare to get them out of your hair.  Is that fair?  We spend 14 years in jail without bail and emerge only to wait for our paychecks in the mail, live for the next sale, and with every breath hope not to fail in other people’s eyes, and their lives have been implanted, all of our enchanted dreams destroyed.  And you wonder why I’m always annoyed.

Kids don’t gain their freedom until after grade 12, year by year hopes and dreams escaping up to the shelves, it’s not just that we’ve lost faith in santa’s elves.  We’ve also stopped believing completely in ourselves.

I live my life under principal, janitor, assistant teacher.  Every once in a while I wonder “is this life, sitting back and listening to the preacher?”  Every feature in my face strains to frown when I turn to meet your plans for my executive future and its corresponding cubicle.  I can learn chemistry on my own if its ever needed.  Yes I’m developing a smart tone, would you rather I pleaded?  Half the kids on the honor roll cheated, cleated their way to the top all the while receiving your praise nonstop.  At prom you didn’t notice the A students in the back because you were doing the sockhop.  You’re out of your time, I’m not going to let you slow me down in my prime so step back for someone who draws the line where we need it, not where you’re trying.  If you say that you care about us beyond your job description, you’re lying.
