Quilt Size: 48" x 60" without border

Layout: 4 blocks by 5 blocks

Yardage: can be a three-fabric quilt or a scrappy

*  Background: 1 3/4 yard -- muslin for a 30's look - dark for an Amish look - keep the same fabric (6 1/2" extra fabric)

*  Print: 1 1/2 yards -- can be scrappy** - can be a bold Flamingo Print we all know and love - 30's prints - jewel tones for Amish look (8 1/2" extra fabric)

*  Solid: 1 yard -- can be scrappy** - That Green for a 30's look - more jewel tones for an Amish look (8" extra fabric)

**See each step for needed fabric cutting requirements.

"Extra fabric" means you have a cushion from the actual yardage you needed for mistakes.

Yardage was calculated based on 40" usable fabric - 45" is the general width of fabric.  Check solids because sometimes they only give you 39" of usable fabric.  Remove selvages before cutting strips.

(All measurements include 1/4" seam allowances.)

PART 1:

Solid: Cut 1 strip 2" x 45"

Print: Cut 1 strip 2 1/2" x 45"

Background: Cut 1 strip 9 1/2" x 45"

(If you want a scrappy look use Fat Quarters which are only 21" wide and cut 2 strips.)

With right sides together, sew the 2" solid to the 2 1/2" print piece.  Press to the print.

Sew the background to the print piece.  Press to the background.

Cut the sewn set of strips apart every 2".

NEED: 20 Units - label PART 1 and set aside till later.
