The Mines of Madness

The Mines of Madness:

Below the dungeons and cellars of the city are a strange complex of caves that defy mapping--some say they go on forever. Inside these passages, bizzare features and strange phenomena will pose unique challenges to fighters.

--The stairs warp space. If a character moves off the edge of the map via one of these stairs, they will not ring out, but will appear at the bottom of a different stair, determined by rolling 1d4 and checking the numbers next to each stair. This is the same as a Dimension Door effect, so no actions can be taken after teleporting in this manner. If a character is unable to teleport for some reason, they will ring out normally. It is quite possible for a character to appear on the stairway they tried to leave by.

--The green rocks are made of an alien substance called Bilestone (LoM, p27). It has the same hardness and hit points as stone. Any non-abberation creature within 20ft of a cube takes -2 to save against mind-affecting spells and -2 on Wisdom checks and Wisdom-based skill checks. The range is less than that of normal bilestone.

--The carved skull has hardness 5 and 20 HP. It provides cover against attacks that pass through it's space.

--The caves echo even the smallest sound over and over. Listen checks in this arena recieve a +5 circumstance bonus. However, the DC of using the Listen skill to pinpoint a creature increases by +5.

--Arena boundaries are 10ft above and 10ft below ground level.
