The surname Achurra / Atxurra briefly appear in the town of Amoroto and Lekeitio, province of Bizkaia, the Basque country in northern Spain. "Field of thorn bushes" from atxur "bramble" and the
suffix "aga" reduced to "a", indicating "place of" or
"field" not "aga" as in the word meaning "backhoe" la azada.
Achurra / Atxurra is a cave in Amoroto, Bizkaia, a karstic complex near an affluent of the river Lea, where you can find a group of six caves, a few river sources, underground waters and cavities. In Guipuzkoa, a small village in Astigarraga called Achurra or Achurro, the one that gave origin to the"ACHURRA" family name. | |
