Iotas In The Community




It is the mission of the Delta Delta Chapter to serve the community. We, at VCU, was honored by the University for having the most community service hours out of all student organizations on campus (1999). We have also been recongnized by the clean city commission of Richmond; with the most adpoted streets.

Into the Streets
This is an opportunity where you give one Saturday Morning to prvide service to one of the numerous sponsors throught the City of Richmond.

Adopt-A-School
Brothers volunteer at A.V.Norel Middle School through an agreement with the VCU. Giving an hour or more to a child that needs encouragement, assitance, and a friend.

IOTA Streets
The Delta Delta Chapter Brothers & Sweethearts have adopted six streets on VCU Campus to show our dedication to service and VCU. Look for the Adopt-A-Street Signs.

Sept. 11 Relief
Due to the tragedies that occured in our great nation on Sept. 11, 2001. The Men of the Delta Delta Chapter hosted a Donation Table to send funds in support of Rescue and Restoration of NY.
Imani Christian Ministries
Delta Delta Chapter joined the Imani Chirtian Music Ministries on a Friday night to bring encouragement and entertainment to the youth. We favored them with a mini show and offered a few words on the need of Higher Education. Bro. Mark Smith was also a Panelist for that evenings discussion.

First Friday Spring 2002
VCU Host a night full of events for VCU Freshman and other on campus students. The Brothers helped by volunteering at serveral workstations. Also the Men of IOTA, helped make the AfterParty jump off.

The Brothers of Delta Delta Chapter have also take an active role it our National Service Programs,
The Digital Heritage Initiative.

On September 19th 2001, We donated an Africana Encyclopedia to Benford Middle School.The Africana Encyclopedia is a one-volume encyclopedia of the black world. Consisting of more than 2100 pages, two million words and 3,500 entries from more than 220 contributors, it was inspired by the dream of the late African American scholar W.E.B. Du Bois. This single-volume encyclopedia is the most comprehensive collection of African and African American culture and history ever published.

New Scholarship Available
The Men of the Delta Delta Chapter are the Proud Sponsors of a New Scholarship for Incoming Freshman at VCU. The award will be selected by the University Scholarship Committee and given to any Afircan American Male with a 3.0 G.P.A. graduating from a VA. High School.
