Vision #48 - The Star That You Weren't
By Kenneth R. Cabrieto
I remember we were watching TV together one time.
Yet another new pop idol was being born on the screen.
There was something different about her though.
She looked just like you.
You noticed this uncanny similarity as well.
I still can't explain it to this day.
The sudden change that took place in you.
Slowly you became this star from TV.
You shopped where she shopped.
Ate what she ate.
Talked how she talked.
I know that can't be very healthy.
Especially since she didn't eat much,
Where as you used to.
Now you're sick.
I tell you to eat,
But you don't listen.
You want to stay like her.
I tell you that you don't look like her anymore.
I tell you how you look pathetic.
She's still beautiful and now you aren't.
You start to cry.
Her signature series make-up starts to run.
I hand you a mirror.
You cry some more.
Tears.
Sobbing.
More and more crying.
I leave you alone.
I should feel bad,
But I don't.
I just killed a star who never got to shine.
