Vision #27 - Your Choice
By Kenneth R. Cabrieto

           You said good-bye to me,
In a way no one has before.
           I only hope,
No one ever says good-bye to me
           In that way ever again.
You said good-bye to everyone in that fashion.
           Me, your family and friends.
You and I had our share of problems,
People told me you were just being brave.
They said you were taking a stand.
           Dropping thirty-six pills isn’t taking a stand.
It’s taking the easy way out,
And I still had to watch you continue to suffer.
           We all had to,
For a short amount of time.
All the blame still went to me.
Everything always seemed to be my fault.
None of it went to who we blamed.
It’s easier to die than is it to forget,
Or to forgive, for that matter.
           Dying for someone,
Is so much easier than living for someone.
We said “Til death do us part.”
           Now you’re dead.
           That was your choice.
           Yes, I blame you.
Although I do want to see you again,
I’m not about to go to hell to do it.
