Toyed With
By Kenneth R. Cabrieto
I'm being toyed with,
Bounced around like a ball,
Thrown up into the air like a hero
But no one catches me when I fall.
It's this setup I've grown tired of,
My heart can take no more.
If you can't imagine what it feels like,
Try crawling around on the floor.
Sadly that's where you'll find me,
Although it's not my rightful place.
You can think I won't amount to anything
But you wouldn't dare say it to my face.
That's a right you haven't earned,
My viewpoint you can't see.
You just don't understand what I've learned
The only one who truly knows is me.
It's that pain that makes me stronger
None of you will ever know,
Go ahead and try to take me down again
But I'm still not ready to go.
