The Line
By Kenneth R. Cabrieto

          There is a fine line,
          Between loving and playing.
          I've crossed them both.
Heck, it all used to be just a game to me.
A game that I thought I played well.
So why does it hurt so much now?
Aren't games supposed to be fun?
Just like learning to ride a bike,
          Learning to love can hurt.
Instead of bruises on you elbows and knees,
You get bruises on your heart.
          Must be strong.
          Must work.
          I want it to work.
          Willing to work.
          Will it work?
Am I just wasting your time?
          Or are you wasting mine?
          Tell me.
          Better yet,
          Show me.
          Let's cross that line together.
I know I can't make it without you.
          Be here for me.
I'll always be there for you.
          Just love me.
Love me the way that I love you.
