The Light

     According to the cards,
     You are someone I can count on to help me succeed.
     I've already known this for some time.
     The cards say,
     That you'll help me get through my problems.
     This too, I already knew.
     That's a tradition we established long ago.
     Late night problem solving,
     Caused tears to be pulled from our eyes.
     The pain we felt in our hearts,
     Resulted from various things.
     Unfortunately,
     We haven't always been able to keep each other,
     From making the same miserable mistakes,
     At least one more time.
     That's not what matters though.
     We've been there for each other,
     For advice,
     And for jokes.
     You,
     Are a ray of light,
     That momentarily pulls me away from the darkness,
     That's always by my side,
     And sets me straight.
