The Constant Wounding
By Kenneth R. Cabrieto

Truths may perhaps prove to be false
At a cost that is ultimately too steep.
I let myself get pulled in.
It started with the touching of our lips,
          The non-stop embracing
And the utterance of the words "I love you".
Come to find out it's all a lie
And the contemplation of death begins.
          The examination of every aspect
Only pulls the knife deeper into the wound
In a repetitive and speedy fashion.
