That Night
By Kenneth R. Cabrieto
I had expected a simple night.
Just joy, no fighting or tears.
But what I expected was wrong that night
And that night I've remembered for years.
After all that has come and gone since then,
I'd expect that I'd soon just forget.
But how could I wipe away the memory,
Of the day that we first we met?
All the expectations I've had about you,
Were dead wrong, not just slightly out of array.
And still I try to forget about you,
And still I can't to this day.
