Modern Love
By Kenneth R. Cabrieto
You say that you love me,
But I don't feel it in my heart,
I know that I love you,
But I want us to be apart.
I felt love,
The day we got together,
But it would seem,
That it didn't last forever,
We've been together a year now,
And we barely even talk,
Last time we hung out together,
Together we didn't walk.
We hold hands no longer,
We rarely embrace,
You said we had to talk,
But it was me,
You couldn't face.
I think we have to face the facts,
I think it finally came true,
Our happiness is no longer,
Especially with you.
If I have to doubt the way you feel,
That means that we're not right.
Now that I think about it,
When did we last, not fight?
Am I the last to know?
Is there someone else besides me?
Come to think of it you're always happy,
Until it's me that you see.
Whatever the reason,
I know that we can't be,
There's sadness in our splitting up,
And it's all from me.
If it's him that you want,
Go ahead, be happy,
Just don't take me for a ride,
And leave me all alone in the end.
My hearts been hurt too many times,
And I won't let it happen again.
Oh well, it's too late,
Just found out you were messing with my best friend.
I was wrong about you,
And very wrong about him,
Thought we were all real,
But you're both just rotten friends.
I'm all alone again,
But it feels all right,
You both did me wrong,
And you'll both die tonight.
