Challenging Chance

     For now I think I'll put this behind me.
     The challenge is much too great
     And I'm nowhere near ready.
     No matter how much I want it to be -
     This is no dream.
     The pains of uncertainty
     Are much too real.
     Here I lay discouraged -
     Over something I've never wanted so bad.
     I'm slowly making progress
     But progress is made too slow.
     Gotta step it up.
     This isn't just for me.
     Can we make it?
     I guess I have to make the first move.
     I put one foot over the line
     And it quickly retreats.
     No, this is all on me.
     I have to do it.
     I summon up all my courage
     And throw my entire body into a game of chance.
