Broken Promise

     Too afraid,
     Too proud,
     Or both,
     Either or -
     It doesn't really matter.
     The promise has been broken.
     No one wants to find out that they were wrong about the other.
     Wait, that's too long.
     Let's just say -
     No one wants to be wrong.
     Refusing answers
     Is pretty much
     Refusing the truth
     And vice versa.
     Proud, afraid or refusing,
     You can only be stuck in wonder -
     If you're even wondering.

     Today a promise went unkept
     By both who made it,
     Thus it is a broken promise.
     It's simple to say,
     Unless the broken promise was to you.
