What you can say can affect someone more thank you think. By Nick Sharpe (nsharpe@inna.net) ---------------------------------------------------------- So I'm gonna semi-mark out. Big deal. On Ocober 13th, at the ECW show in Richmond, Virginia, I had to have left feeling the best I have in ages. Actually, me and my friend Racheal left feeling the best we've ever felt. And it's all thanks to one person. Jasmin St. Claire. When I say this, I don't mean feal good in some perverted way, I mean actually feeling good about myself (and Racheal feeling good about herself). It makes you think about how when someone says something that might seem insignificant, it makes a world of difference. Let me throw in some background fact to clarify all this. I, much like many teenagers, have low self esteem and depression problems. Racheal has that, plus family woes. I had been promising her I'd take her a live wrestling show sooner or later. Well, when I found out ECW was coming back to town, I got me and her tickets (ok, I actually got my friend Kreatch to get the tix since he was going to go buy them, but I paid him for both tickets), and off to ECW we went. She was feeling insecure about her looks, and I was feeling insecure period. I figured watching some bloodletting and good wrestling from the ECW boys and girls would lighten both our moods. So we go to the show, and watch several matches. Thing is, I know that at this venue (The Siegal Center on the campus of VCU) the chances of meeting wrestlers in the foyer was extremely high, and on this night, I was right. Met Spike Dudley, Roadkill, Doring, New Jack, Guido, Mamaluke, and numerous other wrestlers. But when Jasmin and Prodigette (whom which is very beautiful in person) walked in the foyer to buy sodas, I knew the night was gonna pay off big. Little did I know I was gonna get something greater than a picture or autograph. Being the fan that I am, I approached both women, and started a conversation. Around this time, Racheal joined me and we started talking to each other. At one point, I brought up Jasmin's previous career (and I'm not going to mention it because she told me she is trying to put it behind her), and I told her that she was a lot more entertaining as a pro-wrestling character than as some "video" star. She thanked me for that, and I think it may have made her feel a little better about her career choice. I don't know, but I was shooting in the dark about that, even though it is true. Racheal at this point brought up to Jasmin about her wanting to be a valet (part time, though, but still), and Jasmin said something to her that made Racheal feel the best about herself in ages: "You're very beautiful. You could easily make it as a valet, with some training. But bodywise, you're perfect for it." She then made a comment that would make me feel like god's gift to the world: (note: I forget exactally how she said it, so I'm paraphrasing) "You two would make a great couple in the ring. You're both extremely cute." At that moment, I, for the first time in years, felt like something other than the lowest lifeform on the earth. Me and Racheal left that night feeling like gods. We had both been complimented by someone who truly knows. Someone truly beautiful, and as I learned, beautiful inside and out. In case she ever does read this: Jasmin, I can't think you enough for talking to me and Racheal that night. What you said to us meant more than any picture or autograph ever could. Ever.
