i used to try to define what punk is, but there is no definition because it's up to you to figure out what it means to you. i won't give you my definition, because it's pointless because it's just that: my definition, and it won't do you any good. i spent alot of time at the warped tour message board about a year and a half ago, and there were so many close-minded people there, who seemed to think, "i'm more punk than you because i have my nuts pierced" that i refuse to call myself a punk anymore. those people would judge a person and say someone wasn't punk if they liked a band they didn't. personally, i don't care if someone likes a band i don't, it's their own opinion, and if they like that band, it doesn't mean they're wrong. it just means they think differently. anyways, if you want a definition i think the best one was written by operation: cliff clavin, so here it is. "A punk rocker is a crusty punk with a 2 foot mohawk, a punk rocker is a baggy jeaned macho jock who listens to NOFX, a punk rocker is a checkerbord ska nerd skankin' it up at the show...a punk rocker is a guy in a leather jacket that only likes bands from the 80's and says punk is dead...a punk rocker is often the first one to say "i am not a punk rocker." (this is me now) and to all those who tell me i'm not punk, i'd like to quote a jawbreaker song: "you're not punk, and i'm telling eveyone." save your breath i never was one. peace yo
