I had moved down the street from him no more than a month ago, and he was one of the first people to greet me when I moved to Kentucky, and we became instant friends. I was going into seventh grade, along with Nick, and Brian was going into ninth.
"Well it's getting late, I better get home." Nick said, heading towards the door,he lived two blocks away.
"Dude, its summertime, and its not even dark yet." I said.
"Thats why he wants to get home, he's afraid to walk there in the dark. We went to a horror movie once, and came back here afterwards. Well there was a storm that night, and the power went out. Man, he was totally freaked out!" Brian told me.
"Oh shut-up! I am not afraid of the dark!" Nick turned red. "You coming to the mall tomorrow, Bri?"
"Yep, i'll be there." he replied, and Nick left. "You want to come?" he asked me.
"Nah,I won't know anyone." I said.
"That's how you meet people! Duh!" he laughed.
"Yeah, i know. Thats okay, I think i'll pass."
We played video games a little while longer and then went home.
I woke up early the next morning. I had already unpacked all my stuff, i just hadn't gotton the room where I wanted it to be yet. I had almost gotton my room completely rearranged when the doorbell rang. I answered it.
"Hey, Brian, whats up?" I asked.
"Wanna go to the mall?"
"I said i didn't want to." I replied.
"Well, i chose not to hear that. Come on, my mom's waiting." he pleaded.
"Fine, give me a second to get ready." I told him.
We met everyone in the food court. Nick was there, along with two girls.
"This is Erin," Brian introduced," you know Nick, and thats Jennifer and Heather."
I said hello to them. It turns out Heather was going into my grade and Jen into Brian's.
"Where do you guys want to go?" Heather asked.
"Arcade." Brian and I said at the same time. Nick laughed at us.
"Man, you two are perfect for each other." he informed us.
"Yeah, whatever." I replied, and lead the way to the arcade.
Over the next few months i became good friends with Heather and Jen. Nick kept telling me how well i went with Brian and soon began saying that Brian had a crush on me. I didn't worry about it too much, i mean, i had just turned twelve and wasn't really worrying about getting a boyfriend, and i didn't even know if he was telling the truth.
