Sakura to Fushigi na Mahou no Hon
(Sakura and the Mysterious Magic Book)
A girl is standing on the building across from Tokyo Tower with a strange cane and a little orange animal floating next to her. Cards are floating everywhere. Suddenly, wings appear on her feet and she begins to fly over to Tokyo Tower.
Then an alarm goes off~ it turns out to all be a dream. She gets up and introduces herself as Kinomoto Sakura. He father calls her down to breakfast, but when she gets downstairs, her older brother is sitting at the table. He begins to tease her and calls her a monster. She introduces him as Touya and says she will one day grow very tall and stomp on him.
Then her father comes out with breakfast. She introduces him as Fujitaka. She then says that her mother passed away when she was three, but she's not lonely because of her dad and brother. Touya gets up and leaves, and Sakura stuffs the rest of her breakfast in her mouth. Her dad hands her lunchbox to her. She puts on her skates and tries to catch up to her brother. She admires the blossoms on some cherry trees along the way.
When she catches up, her brother meets with his friend, whom he calls Yuki. Sakura introduces him as Tsukishiro Yukito and says he's too nice to be her brother's friend. When she stops off at her school, Tomoeda Shougakkou, Yukito tosses her a piece of candy. She looks at it dreamily until another girl comes up beside her. She introduces her as Daidouji Tomoyo, her best friend.
At the lockers, Tomoyo tells Sakura that she wishes she could have gotten her on tape with that dreamy look on her face. She then says that she bought a new video camera that she's going to bring from now on. She wants to tape Sakura because she thinks there's nothing more interesting or cuter than she is.
Tomoyo and Sakura are sitting together in literature class while the teacher reads passages from a book. Sakura is drawing the little animal from her dream last night, and Tomoyo asks her about it. Before she has a chance to answer, the teacher calls on her to read.
In cheerleading practice, the girls are doing baton tosses. Sakura is thinking about her dream again. All of a sudden, her baton turns into the cane she saw. She is surprised, letting it fall back down and hit her on the head.
When she gets home, no one's there, so she looks at the message board. Her dad isn't going to be home until 9:00, so she goes to the fridge to get a snack. She hears something in her dad's study room, so she grabs her baton and goes to check it out, thinking it's a burglar Instead of a burglar however, she finds a glowing book called The Clow. It looks exactly like a book she saw in her dream.
The book opens, revealing a stack of cards. She takes the first card from the top and reads it's name: Windy. A huge gust of wind blows all the cards away and through the roof. Then, the little orange animal pops out of the back of the cover. He introduces himself as Kerberos, the beast of the seal. He speaks in Osaka-ben, claiming that the book was in Osaka for so long, he picked it up. He notices that the cards are gone and goes crazy. Sakura hands him the Windy card and told him what happened.
That night after dinner, Sakura takes some desert to Kerberos, who's trying to locate the cards. He explains that they are "Clow cards" created by Clow Reed and that they will cause disasters if not sealed. He says he wants Sakura to do it, but she thinks it's his fault. He says he fell asleep for thirty years, but Sakura must become a "Cardcaptor" because she used Windy's spell.
She makes a contract with the Seal Key, and Kerberos teaches her the chants. He and she are arguing over the responsibility when there's a big gust of wind. They look out the window and see the Fly card. Sakura has to go capture it in her pajamas.
She can't capture it easily, and Kerberos says to think of a plan. Sakura skates up the wall, jumps onto Fly's back, and binds it with Windy. She seals the card and then starts crying, exclaiming that she thought she was going to die. Kerberos said she did well, but she said that she still hadn't agreed to be a Cardcaptor.
Kerberos tells her to try out the card. She releases it and flies around on it. Kerberos says it will be fun to work with her, and she agrees, but she soon recoils and said for the third time, "I didn't say I would do it!".
