I woke up about to freeze. I looked at my watch to find that it was 11:30. I guess my sudden movement awoke Nick because he began yawning. I woke up about to freeze. I looked at my watch to find that it was 11:30. I guess my sudden movement awoke Nick because he began yawning.
“What time is it?” he asked.
“11:30, are you cold?”
“No, why?”
“I am, let’s go home.”
“Sure.”
“Ok then, let’s go.” I said grinning and making glares at Nick as I cleaned up.
“What are you laughing at?”
“Oh, nothing...”
“Did I snore?” he asked sounding kind of worried.
“Yeah, and...”
“What?”
“Well, you snored, but I thought it was cute and you said something to me?”
“What did I say?”
“I hope you meant it too.”
“What did I say?” he asked again.
“I know I do...” I said kind of laughing at the look on his face.
“Was it good or bad?”
“It was good.”
“Well, what was it?”
“You told me you loved me.”
“I did?”
“Yep. And since you didn’t hear me say it, I’ll say it again.”
“Say what?”
“I love you too Nick.” I said as he kissed me. This time it was different, instead of it being a kiss, I felt an electric jolt go up my spine. It was nothing like I had ever experienced before, and I knew he had meant what he said. It was not only in the kiss, but also going up my shirt. I felt a shocking cold breeze and an ice-cold hand go up the back of my shirt, in which I jumped at.
“Uh, Nick, hon, I hate to cut you short but we have got to go near some heat.” I said.
“Um hmmm”
“NICKOLOUS GENE CARTER, in the name of Frosty the Snowman, please let me up so I can get in the car and go home. We can finish what we started there, where there is a warm blanket waiting for us.”
“Okay, let’s go. I’ll race you!” he said as he took off towards the car with the picnic basket and keys.
“Sure!” I said taking off as well.
Needless to say he beat me, mainly because he had a head start on me. For some reason, he wanted to drive me home, so I let him.
“So, did you mean what you said?” I asked curiously.
No answer, just a grin he was trying to control unsuccessfully.
“Well, did you?”
“I’ll show you when we get home, okay?”
“Okay, but is it good or bad?”
“You’ll have to find out.”
We rode the rest of the way in silence, I guess because I fell asleep. The car stopped but it wasn’t at home, it was at our town’s park. Nick got out and came over and woke me up.
“Wake up sleepy head, its time to answer your question.”
“Hmmm, sounds good.” I said sleepily.
We got out and walked up to ‘Lovers Crook’. It was a hole in the rock that looked like a love seat and was usually used as a meeting place for gangs. Tonight was the night it would get back its meaning. Nick went up to the rock and surprisingly found AJ and Leighann there.
“Hey, what are you two doing here?” Nick asked.
“AJ bought me here for a dance and we were talking then our plans changed, as you can see. What are you two doing here?”
“Well, Yvonne says I snore...” Nick began.
“YES! He does!” AJ cut in.
“Thank you AJ, but she said it was cute, so HA. I can’t say that for you. You sound like a gorilla!” Nick came back, laughing hard. Of coarse they were picking. After catching his breath, he finished his sentence.
“She also says I said I loved her in my sleep, so I’m here to answer her question.”
Leighann became dead serious in like, five seconds.
“What was your question?”
“Did he mean it?” I answered.
“He’d be nuts not to mean it.” AJ said sweetly.
“Aww, that’s so sweet!” Leighann and I said in unison.
“Thank you, thank you very much!” he said bowing.
“Well, since we have the house to ourselves, we are going to occupy it.” Leighann said.
“Bye babe, bye Nicky-Poo!” AJ said to us.
“Bye monkey boy!” Nick and I said in unison.
They left and Nick turned to me with the most adorable face ever.
“So you want to know if I meant what I said, huh?”
“Yeah I do.”
“Truthfully?”
“I’m not that bad am I?”
“Truthfully, yeah, I meant every word I said. Even though I didn’t get to see your face when I said it.”
“Well, my eyes filled up with tears and I smiled and said I loved you too.” I replied.
“I’m glad you feel that way. I’m also glad you love me for me and not because I’m a Backstreet Boy.”
“You’re a Backstreet Boy? Who knew?!”
“Ha ha, very funny.”
“I know it was wasn’t it? The Backstreet Boy bit is extra. But there’s something special that attracts me to you. You’re a great person and lots of fun to be with. Plus you’re so darn cute! How could I not like you? I love your personality.”
“Thanks, you don’t know how good it feels to hear that.”
“It’s how I feel, and I know I could go all mushy on you but I’ll spare you the horror.” I laughed.
“I appreciate that, now, let me get mushy on you girly.” He said pushing me up against the rocks and kissing me ever so softly on the lips, cheek, neck, etc. (You get the picture!)
We stayed there for awhile longer, stared at the stars and just enjoyed our time together. Then we set off for home.
