Hot Track Of The Week:

This is a song currently in the Top 50 that I'll feature each week.

Charli XCX - 360

For the past couple months, the "Brat Summer" has definitely been in full effect with several songs from Charli XCX's brat album getting a lot of exposure. There are a couple others that I especially like, but "360" is the one that's got most of my attention right now. If you haven't followed her career since her 2014 hit, the more straight-up Pop-slanted "Boom Clap," the club vibe of this one may come as a surprise. But those who have been riding with her all along know this catchy number's sound is right in line with the more EDM-oriented direction her music's been going in for the past several years.

Spotlight Song Of The Week:

This is a song from the Next In Line List that may be making a debut sometime within the next few weeks.

Coldplay featuring Burna Boy, Little Simz, Elyanna, & Tini - We Pray

"We Pray" is the latest single from Coldplay, following up the uptempo and breezy "feelslikeimfallinginlove." It's definitely a sonic change in pace for the band, but certainly not the first time they've recorded a Hip-Hop flavored track. I don't always love every single song Coldplay puts out, but I'm enjoying this inspirational tune right now. We'll see if it ends up making enough of a continued impression for me to place it inside the Top 50 in the coming weeks.

Blast From The Past:

This is a song from the past that I'm featuring to bring back memories of yesteryear!

Rod Stewart - Some Guys Have All The Luck

This week's Blast From The Past takes us back to 1984. That year, "Some Guys Have All The Luck" was released as the second single from Rod Stewart's album, Camouflage. The song got its start in 1973 when it was recorded by The Persuaders and rose to a #7 peak in the U.S. on the Billboard R&B chart and just eked its way into the Top 40 on the Hot 100 Singles chart at a peak of #39. In 1981, a cover by Robert Palmer reached #7 in Sweden and #16 in the U.K., but didn't perform well elsewhere. Although it's been covered a few other times including a 1987 remake by Maxi Priest, the best-known and most successful was that 1984 version released by Stewart. The synthpop-flavored tune that finds Stewart lamenting about being unlucky in love while other guys seemingly have all the luck in the world when it comes to relationships found its highest peak in the U.S. where it went to #10 on the Hot 100, making it one of eight Top 10 hits he had on that chart in the 80s. It may not be in the Top 10 or even Top 20 on a list made if many are asked to make a list of their favorite Rod Stewart songs, but it's one that I always enjoy going back and listening to.
