Hot Track Of The Week:

This is a song currently in the Top 50 that I'll feature each week.

Sabrina Carpenter - Bed Chem

Just when you think Sabrina Carpenter might run out of catchy songs to release as a single from her latest album, another one comes out! "Bed Chem" is the latest from the Short n' Sweet album. The flirty tune that finds Sabrina exploring her attraction to a love interest and guessing that they'd have great chemistry in the bedroom is already seeing a lot of popularity. Like most of her other recent releases, it's sure to challenge for the #1 spot on my chart in the coming weeks.

Spotlight Song Of The Week:

This is a song from the Next In Line List that may be making a debut sometime within the next few weeks.

Elton John & Brandi Carlile - Never Too Late

The inspirational and anthemic new song, "Never Too Late," is taken from the documentary flim Elton John: Never Too Late chronicling the 2024 "Farewell Yellow Brick Road" tour that has been touted as the last time the legendary singer will embark on any sort of extended concert tour. I like this one. It's got a lot of competition for space on the Top 50, so I don't know what the future will hold. We shall see!

Blast From The Past:

This is a song from the past that I'm featuring to bring back memories of yesteryear!

Mika & Ariana Grande - Popular Song

This week's Blast From The Past takes us back to 2013. With all of the accolades and excitement over the recent release of the big screen adaptation of the Broadway play, Wicked, I thought it would be fun to revisit film co-star Ariana Grande's association with one of the play's most beloved musical numbers roughly 12 years before the movie. In January 2013, "Popular Song" was released as a single from Mika's album The Origin Of Love. And although it wasn't an official single from her release, it was also included on Grande's debut album, Yours, Truly. The song, which is heavily inspired by "Popular" from the play, got its start as a duet with Muni Long (when she was using her previous stage name, Priscilla Renea). The original version had a very different sound to it, leaning in more of a Hip-Hop direction. When the time came to release it as a single, Mika decided to completely rework it, adding in new music, changing some of the lyrics, and bringing on Grande to give it a more lighthearted, Pop feel. It wasn't much of a chart hit upon release, but I loved the bouncy and catchy track and still do. It just goes to show that sometimes songs that DON'T become hits can be just as memorable or beloved - sometimes more so - than songs that go to #1 or reach the Top 10.
