MENC Conference, 2000

Wow...this is not a Civil War trip! MENC stands for something like "Music Educators National Convention" or Conference or Council or something like that. And my school's oh-so-special orchestra got to play there. And miss a day of school for it! Whohoo! So without further ado...

The Characters:

Cheilek: Crazed wildcat, our wonderfully eccentric conductor. She throws hissy fits almost constantly, but she gets us sounding great and we love her for it. I think.

Bartok: Famous dead composer, 2nd violinist in real life. This comes from an inside joke about the Evil Bartok Rising From the Grave to Kill Us All. Don't ask. Just feed him.

The Fiddler on the Roof: Title roll of school musical, as well as our absolutely amazing award winning concertmaster!!! Everyone loves her, too, and she always has something interesting to say.

Stravinsky: Dead Russian Composer, principal 2nd violin in real life. He is the only person I've portrayed as a Famous Dead Composer here that actually has written any music. He's terrified of Bartok and the author. With good reason.

Shostakovich: Another Dead Russian Composer, violist in real life, and also happens to be the person who drew this stupid cartoon (AKA me). Why not McClellan this time? A--Why would McClellan be at a music convention? B--Can you picture McClellan playing a viola? C--I'm doing a report for Humanities class on Shostakovich. D--My computer hates Shostakovich, so I'm torturing it. E--It doesn't matter. Shut up.

I've blabbed enough. Now, on with the show!
