Love. Truly a strange thing. Just like Huey Lewis says it has such an amazing power. Impossible to comprehend. Our lives are flooded with different emotions, some wrongly considered to be love. These misconceptions are the emotions that bring us to the ground. We are slain by our own hands when we blame it on love. We are simply foolish children, drafted and forced to fight for a love we strain to identify. Many times, we take our "prize" too early, cashing it in, only to find out that what we thought was a golden prize is nothing more than the common dust we walk on all our lives. Like pyrite, they attract us, but they are too common to have any lifelong value. But at the same time, one person's gold can be another's pyrite.
Love has the power to make itself hidden. The more we try to find our true love, the harder it is to find. Yet, it does not mean that we not search for the prize. Without the enduring challenge, we would not be grateful and thankful for the joy that this love offers. Love is known to reveal itself in the darkest moments of our lives, like a bright candle in the middle of an endless, starless, moonless night. And like wood, we are ignited by love, consumed by its blissful flames. By fire we are given a new birth, transforming into a vessel of love, overflowing, even as we try to pour it all on those we love.
Love has the power to make things right. The coveted power to take the greatest pains and emptiness and fill it with an undefinable happiness. When you find that love, none of the pains can harm you. You feel powerful and noble when you have someone special to hold.
Though love is the most powerful force in the world, there's always the fear of losing what we treasure the most. Losing the love that binds our souls, losing the love that defines our souls. For without this love, our frail structure would crumble from within in a mere instant, without warning, without mercy.
Love is powerful, but it is often tried. The misconceptions of love become jealous and try to their fullest ability to weaken the true love, biting and tearing at the cords that bind two hearts together. Distance can also threaten the sustenance of love. The two hearts ache with the need to come closer, to return to the peace of soul they had when they were together. When distance wedges itself inside the framework of love, it tears at the love from inside. This is the prime test of love; to see if it can survive the greatest obstacle that exists.
Once you feel this love, you shall understand how precious it really is. As the Eagles sing, "love will keep us alive." It is much more than a precious prize. It becomes a way of living, a way of thriving when the world threatens to crush us with its grasp. Never give up the search for love. I have been truly blessed by God for giving me this precious gift that brings peace to my soul. Each day, I see another reason to thank Him for this long-longed love.
