My Job as a Carnie
The Last Day

Oh here I was on the last day
Hello to me they did not say.
I really wish I would have quit,
I don’t know why I stuck with it.
Why King’s Dominion stole all free time
Replacing it with a shiny dime.
But still, I made it, the last day,
Only nine hours I needed to stay.

This day would be like all the rest
Filled with every type of pest.
My job I hated every minute
But soon I would at last forget it.

The time that day passed rather slow,
But at least I was not at Top Glow.
Alas, three o’clock rolled around
I went on my break without a sound.
I headed to Oscar’s one last time
And then choked down a meal covered in grime.

"Six hours, that’s it, then we’re free,"
Repeatedly I said to me.
A while later it was dark
And finally time to close the park.

I put on a smile and said my good-byes
Turned in my uniform and told some lies.
"I had fun this season, see you next year,"
I told my boss as I grinned ear to ear.
Inside I thought, "Ha, Ha, yea right,
I’ll never come back without a fight."

That was it, I left and didn’t turn back
And I did it all with my sanity intact.
