Colors and Genetics of Apple Snails

Some of the many snails inhabiting my tanks. Clockwise from yellow snail on left: golden canaliculata, ivory bridgesii, my orriginal canaliculata with a glass shrimp, mating striped purple and ivory bridgesiis, and a wild-type Marisa.

This page containes all of my findings regarding the color range, variation, and genetics of the apple snail species Pomacea bridgesii, Pomacea canaliculata, and Marisa cornuarietis. My work all started with one large snail to spur my interest, and has grown to 2 tanks full of beautiful and rare colored bridgesiis, canaliculatas, and Marisas that I have studied. All my work is based on some orriginal research done by an individual on www.applesnail.net (see links and work pages), and has been helped along the way by other individuals from the site.
