Mr. Homer Jesse Starks, 79, of Route 1, Ellijay died Monday, December 16,
at the Watkins Memorial
Hospital following a brief illness.
Mr. Starks was a life long resident of Gilmer County, the son of the late Lewis and Jane Sumner Starks. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church and a member of Odd Fellow Lodge 244 of Ellijay.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Verna Cole Starks; son, Frank Starks, Ellijay; daughter, Mrs. Frances Flanagan, Dalton; two grandchildren and one great grandchild; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, December 18, at two p.m. from the New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. Roy Bailey, Rev Williard Nealey, and Rev. Fred Stahl officiating. Music was furnished by the Hensley Family. Final rites were given by Ellijay Odd Fellow Lodge 244.
Internment was in the church cemetery under the direction of the Bernhardt Funeral Home.
